Predation of Coffee Berry Borer by a Green Lacewing
Neotropical Entomology, 2021We report here for the first time, the predation of coffee berry borer (CBB) Hypothenemus hampei (Ferrari) by a green lacewing species, Chrysoperla externa (Hagen). We showed in laboratory the predator ability to access CBB galleries, remove pest immature stages, and prey on them. We also observed predation by third instar larvae on CBB adults.

A coffee agroecosystem model: II. Dynamics of coffee berry borer
Ecological Modelling, 2013Abstract This paper is the second of three on the coffee production system consisting of (1) the coffee growth and development, (2) coffee/coffee berry borer (CBB) dynamics, and (3) the role of the CBB parasitoids and complementary strategies for control of CBB. The CBB model is based on a prior model by Gutierrez et al.

Hypothenemus hampei (coffee berry borer).
2021Abstract H. hampei, otherwise known as the coffee berry borer, is the most serious pest of coffee in many of the major coffee-producing countries in the world. The scolytid beetle feeds on the cotyledons and has been known to attack 100% of berries in a heavy infestation. Crop losses can be very severe and coffee quality from damaged

AbstractThe coffee berry borer (CBB),Hypothenemus hampeiFerrari, a recent invader to Hawaii, is impacting coffee growers by reducing yields and quality and increasing production costs. Monitoring strategies are needed to assess infestations and where control operations are warranted, and evaluate their effectiveness.

Pest Management Strategies Against the Coffee Berry Borer (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae)
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2018Coffee ( Coffea arabica and C. canephora) is one of the most widely traded agricultural commodities and the main cash crop in ∼80 tropical countries. Among the factors that limit coffee production, the coffee berry borer, Hypothenemus hampei (Ferrari) has been considered the main insect pest, causing losses of over U.S.
