Research on the Method of Reducing Cogging Force of Vernier Motor
2019 22nd International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2019In this paper, the method of reducing the cogging force of permanent magnet vernier motor(PMVM) by auxiliary slots in the top of stator teeth is studied. Fourier decomposition of the analytical formula of the cogging force is carried out, the finite element software ANSYS Maxwell is used to model and simulate the auxiliary slot structure, and the peak ...

Minimization of cogging force in a linear permanent magnet motor
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1998A finite element/analytically based method is used to aid the minimization of cogging force, due to slotting and the finite length of the ferromagnetic core, in a tubular brushless permanent magnet motor. The method is validated against both finite element calculations and measurements on a prototype motor.

Reduction of cogging force in linear generators for wave energy harvesting
OCEANS 2022, Hampton Roads, 2022Due to huge energy potential of sea waves, many technologies have been proposed in the last few years. Some concepts have been developed and sometimes also tested in the open sea. Some prototypes use linear generators to directly convert the vertical motion of buoys into electrical energy. This solution minimizes the numbers of energy conversion steps,

Rolling Force Research on Cogging Rolling of H-Beam
Key Engineering Materials, 2010Due to the complexity of H-beam’s cross section, it is difficult to calculate the rolling force and force torque accurately using classic formulas conveniently when H-beams of new size are developed. This paper describes an investigation into the reversing process of H-beam using MARC software and compares the results with rolling data from the ...

Reduction of cogging force in slotlesslinear permanent magnet motors
IEE Proceedings - Electric Power Applications, 1997There are two potential causes of cogging force in linear permanent magnet motors, resulting from the slotting and the finite length of the iron-cored armature. The paper is concerned with slotless motors, for which a technique is described for minimising the cogging force which is produced when the armature has a mild steel sleeve (yoke). By analysing

Study on Cogging Force of TPMLSM with Multi-Segment Primary
2016 IEEE Vehicle Power and Propulsion Conference (VPPC), 2016In this paper, a method of restraining the cogging force in tubular permanent magnet linear motor with multi-segment primary based on primary iron-cores shifting is proposed, the mechanism of weakening cogging force in tubular permanent magnet linear motor with primary iron-cores shifting is analyzed based on the energy method., and the formula of ...

Cogging Force Optimization of Double-Sided Tubular Linear Machine With Tooth-Cutting
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2022The double-sided tubular linear machine (DSTLM) has a more compact structure than general single-sided motors, resulting in a higher power density, typically at the cost of a higher cogging force. To reduce this aspect and make it more suitable for applications in wave energy conversion systems or elevator driver systems, a new tooth-cutting topology ...

Cogging force alleviation in linear permanent magnet generators
AFRICON 2009, 2009In this paper a three-phase linear permanent magnet generator is designed for direct waves energy conversion. Its performance is then simulated using analytical and finite element method. Cogging force in this generator causes the oscillatory output power, shortens life time and increases the maintenance cost of the generator.

The effect of armature offset for the reduction of end cogging force
International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2016Along with the increased interest in high-load transport system, the linear motor has evolved from the conventional single-sided model to a double-sided model with armatures on both sides of the mover. However, the linear motor generally has armatures installed on the full length of the transport path, resulting in the increase in material costs and ...
