Study on cogging torque reduction methods of PM stepping motor

2004 International Conference on Power System Technology, 2004. PowerCon 2004., 2005
Cogging torque is the main factor that causes a PM stepping motor to be shaken, noisy and even influences its safe operation. After introducing the structure of PM stepping motor, this paper analyzes the effect of the power supply mode on the electromagnetic torque, and the measures to reduce cogging torque of PM stepping motor.

Cogging torque reduction of brushless DC motor for an electric wheelchair

2016 IEEE Transportation Electrification Conference and Expo, Asia-Pacific (ITEC Asia-Pacific), 2016
This paper presents a designing method to reduce the cogging torque of a brush less dc (BLDC) motor for an electric wheelchair. The initial model of a BLDC motor is designed by using the loading distribution method. Cogging torque is one of the main reasons not only to cause the torque ripple, but also to increase unwanted vibration of a BLDC motor ...

Cogging Torque Reduction of Hybrid Excitation Flux Switching Motor

2015 Fifth International Conference on Instrumentation and Measurement, Computer, Communication and Control (IMCCC), 2015
This paper analyzes the cogging torque mechanism of the hybrid excitation flux switching motor. The finite element analysis (FEA) is used to study different cogging torque suppression methods of the motor. These methods include rotor skewing, variable tooth width, auxiliary slot, variable rotor arcs.

Analysis of cogging torque reduction techniques of a slotless PMBLDC motor

2014 Annual International Conference on Emerging Research Areas: Magnetics, Machines and Drives (AICERA/iCMMD), 2014
The reduction of cogging torque in Permanent Magnet Brushless DC (PMBLC) Motor is very essential for high performance applications. This paper investigates on the development of a design which reduces the cogging torque to an optimum level. For this purpose, a comparative analysis on the conventional cogging torque reduction techniques as well as that ...

Noise and cogging torque reduction in brushless DC ceiling fan

2015 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2015
This paper presents the improvements in the design of a three phase BLDC motor for noise reduction. The end application of BLDC motor is a ceiling fan. Acoustic noise spectrum of the motor is captured and analyzed. It is shown that, the cogging torque is the dominant cause of the acoustic noise.

Cogging torque reduction in a novel axial flux PM motor

International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion, 2006. SPEEDAM 2006., 2006
This article shows the reduction of cogging torque in a novel axial flux permanent magnet (AFPM) motor through the various design schemes. 3D finite element method is used for the exact magnetic field analysis. The effects of slot shapes and skewing of slot on the cogging torque and average torque have been investigated in detail.

Reduction of cogging torque by adopting semi circled permanent magnet

2011 1st International Conference on Electrical Energy Systems, 2011
In this paper, being based on Fourier expansion and energy method, the analytical expression of cogging torque of permanent magnet (PM) motor is derived, which can be used to analyze the effects of design parameters on cogging torque. Then a new method for reducing cogging torque by adopting semi circled magnetic pole is proposed.
