Cogging torque reduction in a novel axial flux PM motor

International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion, 2006. SPEEDAM 2006., 2006
This article shows the reduction of cogging torque in a novel axial flux permanent magnet (AFPM) motor through the various design schemes. 3D finite element method is used for the exact magnetic field analysis. The effects of slot shapes and skewing of slot on the cogging torque and average torque have been investigated in detail.

Noise and cogging torque reduction in brushless DC ceiling fan

2015 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2015
This paper presents the improvements in the design of a three phase BLDC motor for noise reduction. The end application of BLDC motor is a ceiling fan. Acoustic noise spectrum of the motor is captured and analyzed. It is shown that, the cogging torque is the dominant cause of the acoustic noise.

Core shape optimization for cogging torque reduction of BLDC motor

IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference. IEMDC'99. Proceedings (Cat. No.99EX272), 2003
The cogging torque in the small brushless DC (BLDC) motors used in the digital versatile disk (DVD) driving system or hard disk drive (HDD) system can cause some serious vibration problems. In this paper, some core shapes that reduce cogging torque are found by using a reluctance network method (RNM) for magnetic field analysis and a genetic algorithm (

Simulation Study Of The Reduction Of Cogging Torque In Permanent Magnet Motors

1997 IEEE International Magnetics Conference (INTERMAG'97), 1997
The reduction of cogging torque in permanent magnet motors has been studied by varying the geometry shape of the saliencies of the armature core on stator of a 12-pole 9-tooth spindle motor. Mechanism of this reduction is explained by the minimum net integral of the product of normal and tangential magnetic flux with respect to the mechanical angle ...

Review of Design Solutions for Internal Permanent-Magnet Machines Cogging Torque Reduction

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2012
Internal permanent-magnet synchronous machines are spreading in industrial production. They feature high torque density and extended speed range that are key issues in many fields of applications, however their cogging torque is typically quite high.

Reduction of Cogging Torque and Torque Ripple in Modulated Pole Machines by Geometrical Changes

7th IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2014), 2014
In recent years significant improvements in the field of Modulated Pole Machines (MPMs) have been achieved, especially in electric vehicles applications. MPMs such as Transverse Flux Machines (TFMs) are known for producing high torque densities; though further research and improvements are needed to reduce the inherently high cogging torque and torque ...

Study on the Noise Reduction of BLDC Fan Motor by Cogging Torque Reduction

The Transactions of The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers, 2013
It is very important to diminish noise source of electric motor systems that are used for home appliance area. We have studied on the noise reduction of BLDC motor, mainly focusing on reducing noise source from cogging torque. This noise source causes resonance of fan & motor systems.
