Design Challenges to Expand the Functionality of Drones: Deformable Rotorcraft and Nature‐Inspired Flapping Drones

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
This review systematically analyzes deformable drones, including extendable, foldable, and tilting configurations, along with nature‐inspired flapping rotorcraft. By classifying deformation principles and structural mechanisms, design trade‐offs, functional capabilities, and future development potential are highlighted.

Torque Ripple Reduction of a Novel Modular Arc-Linear Flux-Switching Permanent-Magnet Motor with Rotor Step Skewing

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
A novel modular arc-linear flux-switching permanent-magnet motor (MAL-FSPM) used for scanning system instead of reduction gearboxes and kinematic mechanisms is proposed and researched in this paper by the finite element method (FEM).

A Novel Sprayable Fibrinogen/Glycosaminoglycans/Collagen‐Based Bioink for Skin Wound Healing Applied by a Handheld Dual‐Head Airbrush

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 5, 2 February 2026.
A dual‐head airbrush‐based spraying device, combined with a fibrinogen bioink enriched with glycosaminoglycans and collagen, enables the delivery of biomaterials and cells to promote wound healing. This system demonstrates effective skin regeneration in vitro and in vivo, with comparable results to autografts.

Reducing the cogging torque effects in hybrid stepper machines by means of resonant controllers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Permanent magnet machines are not free from the interaction between magnets and the stator and rotor slots, which causes an undesired disturbing torque.

Planning and Control Framework for a Quadruped Robot With Changeable Configuration

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 2, February 2026.
Multiconfiguration quadruped robots enhance adaptability by switching between mammal‐like and reptile‐like morphologies. This study presents a nonlinear constraint‐based motion planner integrated with a hierarchical whole‐body controller, enabling robust configuration switching and locomotion on complex terrains. Experiments on slopes, irregular bricks,

Design and Performance Assessment of a Small-Scale Ferrite-PM Flux Reversal Wind Generator

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Currently, there is increasing research interest in harnessing wind energy for power generation by means of non-conventional electrical machines e.g., flux-reversal machines. The flux reversal machine is usually designed using scarce rare–earth permanent

Distributed Formation Control for Heterogeneous Robot Systems Based on Competitive Mechanism

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 190-204, February 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper presents an adaptive formation control method for a heterogeneous robot swarm, utilising a multilevel formation task tree to model various types of formation tasks and a single‐state distributed k‐winner‐take‐all (S‐DKWTA) algorithm to address the MRTA problem.

Cogging Torque Reduction in Permanent Magnet Brushless Motors

open access: yesIEEJ Transactions on Industry Applications, 2002
This paper studies properties and reducing techniques of cogging torque in brushless motors with surface permanent magnets and winding slots. Desirable combination between stator slots and magnet poles, and relation between the slots and added notches are shown.
