Plato's Theory of Knowledge [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
An account of Plato’s theory of knowledge is offered. Plato is in a sense a contextualist: at least, he recognizes that his own use of the word for “knowledge” varies – in some contexts, it stands for the fullest possible level of understanding of a ...

Cytokine‐Engineered Chimeric Antigen Receptor‐T Cell Therapy: How to Balance the Efficacy and Toxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cytokine‐engineered CAR‐T cells represent a promising immunotherapy against malignancies due to direct tumor killing and potent immunity response. However, significant toxicities, including CRS and ICANS, have restricted clinical applications. How to keep the risk‐benefit balance of the advanced therapy is of great importance for maximizing the benefit

Substituent‐Based Modulation of Self‐Assembly and Immunogenicity of Amphipathic Peptides

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study systematically investigates how positional and subtle changes, such as substituents on the phenyl ring attached to short amphipathic peptides, influence their self‐assembly, fibril morphology, and immunogenic responses. ABSTRACT Self‐assembled peptide‐based biomaterials provide versatile platforms for biomedical uses, featuring customizable ...

Enhanced Oxygen Redox Activity and Structure Stability of P2‐Type Manganese‐Based Cathodes Through Medium‐Entropy Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A medium‐entropy strategy guided by ionic potential is applied to weaken TM─O bonds and suppress Jahn–Teller distortion in P2‐type cathodes, thereby enhancing the oxygen redox activity and structure stability. A medium‐entropy oxide, Na0.8Li0.1Ni0.1Cu0.1Ti0.1Mn0.6O2, demonstrates a high reversible capacity of 223.7 mAh g−1 and an energy density of 616 ...

Chaperone‐Mediated Autophagic Degradation of USP9X in Macrophages Exacerbates Postmyocardial Infarction Inflammation and Cardiac Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that inflammatory stimuli induce the acetylation‐triggered, chaperone‐mediated autophagic degradation of ubiquitin‐specific peptidase 9 X‐linked (USP9X) in macrophages. USP9X acts as a macrophage “inflammation switch” after myocardial infarction (MI). USP9X loss destabilizes tumor necrosis factor receptor‐associated factor (TRAF)

Reaction Mechanism, Challenges, and Strategies of High‐Energy‐Density Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Focusing on high‐energy‐density sodium‐ion batteries, this review highlights the advantages offered by conversion‐type cathode materials. The currently studied cathode materials are systematically introduced. By analyzing sulfur, oxygen, and transition metal halides and other conversion‐type cathodes, the key challenges associated with these cathodes ...
