Electrically Induced Negative Differential Resistance States Mediated by Oxygen Octahedra Coupling in Manganites for Neuronal Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The negative differential resistance is exploited, using a La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 thin film network to demonstrate various neuronal functionalities of the human brain, such as leaky‐integrate‐fire and oscillatory patterns. Transmission electron microscope studies show local modification in oxygen octahedra in the network leads to co‐existing phases ...

The evidence for the benefits from breast milk in the neurodevelopment of premature babies – a review of the recent literature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Introduction. The brain in preterm babies is usually not fully developed and therefore early post-term events can have long-lasting neurodevelopment and cognitive outcomes. It is known that cerebral white matter connectivity is important for later intact

Carbon Nanotube 3D Integrated Circuits: From Design to Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
As Moore's law approaches its physical limits, carbon nanotube (CNT) 3D integrated circuits (ICs) emerge as a promising alternative due to the miniaturization, high mobility, and low power consumption. CNT 3D ICs in optoelectronics, memory, and monolithic ICs are reviewed while addressing challenges in fabrication, design, and integration.

The Link Between the Applied Visual Strategy When Copying the Rey–Osterrieth Complex Figure and the Language Abilities in Children with Specific Language Impairment

open access: yesDiagnostics
Background/Objectives: Although specific language impairment (SLI) was thought to be a language impairment, recent studies suggest that it is also associated with domain-general and nonverbal deficits such as deficits in nonverbal working memory, visual ...

Temperature‐Resilient Polymeric Memristors for Effective Deblurring in Static and Dynamic Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A thermally stable organic memristor based on a thiadiazolobenzotriazole (TBZ) and 2,5‐Dioctyl‐3,6‐di(thiophen‐2‐yl)pyrrolo[3,4‐c]pyrrole‐1,4(2H,5H)‐dione (DPP)‐based conjugated polymer is presented, demonstrating reliable, gradual resistance switching across a wide temperature range (153–573 K).

Continual Learning of Multiple Cognitive Functions with Brain-inspired Temporal Development Mechanism [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Cognitive functions in current artificial intelligence networks are tied to the exponential increase in network scale, whereas the human brain can continuously learn hundreds of cognitive functions with remarkably low energy consumption. This advantage is in part due to the brain cross-regional temporal development mechanisms, where the progressive ...
