Detecting Cognitive Impairment and Psychological Well-being among Older Adults Using Facial, Acoustic, Linguistic, and Cardiovascular Patterns Derived from Remote Conversations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The aging society urgently requires scalable methods to monitor cognitive decline and identify social and psychological factors indicative of dementia risk in older adults. Our machine learning (ML) models captured facial, acoustic, linguistic, and cardiovascular features from 39 individuals with normal cognition or Mild Cognitive Impairment derived ...

Immunosuppressive Formulations for Immunological Defense against Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A novel subcutaneous formulation combining alpha‐ketoglutarate, glycolysis inhibitor PFK15, and a myelin peptide reduces inflammation in a mouse TBI model. This formulation promotes regulatory immune cells, enhances autophagy, and improves motor function, suggesting its potential as a prophylactic immunosuppressive therapy to mitigate TBI‐induced ...

Evaluating Cognitive and Neuropsychological Assessments -- A Comprehensive Review [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Cognitive impairments in older adults represent a significant public health concern, necessitating accurate diagnostic and monitoring strategies. In this study, the principal cognitive and neuropsychological evaluations employed for the diagnosis and longitudinal observation of cognitive deficits in the elderly are investigated. An analytical review of

Biomimetic Dynamics of Nanoscale Groove and Ridge Topography for Stem Cell Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Dynamic nanoscale groove‐ridge structures are engineered by flexibly conjugating RGD‐magnetic nanoparticles to nanogroove templates with variable groove widths at the molecular scale. Magnetic control enables cyclic switching between nanoscale groove and ridge states that modulates ligand accessibility of cellular integrins.

Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) supplementation rescues cerebromicrovascular endothelial function and neurovascular coupling responses and improves cognitive function in aged mice

open access: yesRedox Biology, 2019
Adjustment of cerebral blood flow (CBF) to neuronal activity via neurovascular coupling (NVC) has an essential role in maintenance of healthy cognitive function.

Harnessing Photo‐Energy Conversion in Nanomaterials for Precision Theranostics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Harnessing photo‐energy conversion in nanomaterials enables precision theranostics through light‐driven mechanisms such as photoluminescence, photothermal, photoelectric, photoacoustic, photo‐triggered surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), and photodynamic processes. This review explores six fundamental principles of photo‐energy conversion, recent
