Longitudinal changes in brain activation underlying reading fluency
We conducted a longitudinal study to examine the neural correlates of fluency using a connected‐text paradigm with an individualized presentation rate during a critical period of time in children's reading development, as they transition from non‐fluent to fluent reading (1st/2nd to 3rd/4th grades).

Holmes: A Benchmark to Assess the Linguistic Competence of Language Models [PDF]
We introduce Holmes, a new benchmark designed to assess language models (LMs) linguistic competence - their unconscious understanding of linguistic phenomena. Specifically, we use classifier-based probing to examine LMs' internal representations regarding distinct linguistic phenomena (e.g., part-of-speech tagging). As a result, we meet recent calls to

Long‐term musical training induces white matter plasticity in emotion and language networks
Musical training (both voice and piano) could enhance connectivity among emotion‐related regions of the brain, such as the amygdala. Voice training reshaped the architecture of experience‐dependent networks, such as those involved in vocal motor control, sensory feedback, and language processing. Long‐term musical training can strengthen or prune white

Using functional magnetic resonance imaging, this study offers novel neural evidence for the interaction between central and peripheral processes in handwriting from the perspective of functional brain networks. The manipulation of a central variable induced reconfigurations of the somatomotor network and the cerebellar network, networks known to serve
