IRS-Enhanced Energy Detection for Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio Networks
IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, 2021Energy detection is of crucial importance in cognitive radio networks. However, its performance is poor when the channel fading is severe, which causes interference to the primary users.

Cognitive Radio Networks have emerged in the last years as a solution for two problems: spectrum underutilization and spectrum scarcity. In this context we consider a paid-sharing approach where secondary users (SUs) pay for spectrum utilization. We assume a preemptive system where primary users (PUs) have strict priority over SUs; when a PU arrives to

Cooperative Spectrum Sensing Optimization in Energy-Harvesting Cognitive Radio Networks
IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2020This article focuses on the issue of cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) in a mobile energy-harvesting cognitive radio network (EH-CRN), where secondary transmitters (STs) are powered by the radio-frequency (RF) signal emitted from primary transmissions ...

In this article, we are interested in an important paradigm of secondary systems known as cognitive radio (CR) networks where the secondary terminals are envisioned to be capable of sensing and reasoning about the operating radio environments and thereby autonomously adjusting their transceiver parameters to exploit the underutilized radio resources in

Cognitive radio (CR) offers a novel way for effective usage of wireless spectrum by using dynamic spectrum sensing and allocation. One of the main components of CR is to find a spectrum hole for data transmission. Spectrum hole can be found by using spectrum sensing, a geolocation database, or by using a beacon signal.
