Coherent Monoids [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Australian Mathematical Society. Series A. Pure Mathematics and Statistics, 1992
AbstractThis paper is concerned with a new notion of coherency for monoids. A monoid S is right coherent if the first order theory of right S-sets is coherent; this is equivalent to the property that every finitely generated S-subset of every finitely presented right S-set is finitely presented.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Coherence of probability judgments from uncertain evidence: Does ACH help?

open access: yesJudgment and Decision Making, 2020
Although the Analysis of Competing Hypotheses method (ACH) is a structured analytic technique promoted in several intelligence communities for improving the quality of probabilistic hypothesis testing, it has received little empirical testing.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

S-Doped Carbon Dot Treatment Alters RNA Processing, Translation, and Protein Degradation Pathways in HeLa Cells

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology
Carbon dots offer excellent physico-chemical properties and biocompatibility for cancer theranostics systems, either as therapeutic agents themselves, or as potential drug carriers.

Chemical compass model for avian magnetoreception as a quantum coherent device

open access: yes, 2013
It is known that more than 50 species use the Earth's magnetic field for orientation and navigation. Intensive studies particularly behavior experiments with birds, provide support for a chemical compass based on magnetically sensitive free radical ...

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

[Pd(dach)Cl2] Complex Targets Proteins Involved in Ribosomal Biogenesis, and RNA Splicing in HeLa Cells

open access: yesInorganics
This study aims to investigate the effect of the Pd(II) complex on HeLa cells using computational biology and proteomic analysis. [Pd(dach)Cl2]-treated HeLa cells were subjected to comparative proteomics analysis using label-free data-independent liquid ...

Quantifying the Unitary Generation of Coherence From Thermal Quantum Systems

open access: yes, 2019
The unitary generation of coherence from an incoherent thermal state is investigated. We consider a completely controllable Hamiltonian allowing to generate all possible unitary transformations. Optimizing the unitary control to achieve maximum coherence

Coherent differentiation

open access: yesMathematical Structures in Computer Science, 2023
AbstractThe categorical models of differential linear logic (LL) are additive categories and those of the differential lambda-calculus are left-additive categories because of the Leibniz rule which requires the summation of two expressions. This means that, as far as the differential lambda-calculus and differential LL are concerned, these models ...
