Extreme Value Statistics in Silicon Photonics

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2009
L-shape probability distributions are extremely non-Gaussian functions that have been surprisingly successful in describing the occurrence of extreme events ranging from stock market crashes, natural disasters, structure of biological systems, fractals ...

Measurement-induced collective vibrational quantum coherence under spontaneous Raman scattering in a liquid

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Spontaneous vibrational Raman scattering is a ubiquitous form of light–matter interaction whose description necessitates quantization of the electromagnetic field.

Coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering imaging under ambient light. [PDF]

open access: yesOpt Lett, 2016
We demonstrate an ambient light coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering microscope that allows CARS imaging to be operated under environmental light for field use. The CARS signal is modulated at megahertz frequency and detected by a photodiode equipped with a lab-built resonant amplifier, then extracted through a lock-in amplifier.

Sensitivity of coherent anti-Stokes Raman lineshape to time asymmetry of laser pulses

open access: yes, 2014
We show that coherent anti-Stokes Raman lineshapes do not follow known spectral profiles if the time asymmetry of realistic laser pulses is taken into account.

The influence of phase-modulation on femtosecond time-resolved coherent Raman spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
The influence of phase-modulation on femtosecond time-resolved coherent Raman scattering is investigated theoretically and experimentally. The coherent Raman signal taken as a function of the spectral position shows unexpected temporal oscillations close

Background-free time-resolved coherent Raman spectroscopy (CSRS and CARS): Heterodyne detection of low-energy vibrations and identification of excited-state contributions

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2019
Coherent Raman scattering (CRS) spectroscopy techniques have been widely developed and optimized for different applications in biomedicine and fundamental science. The most utilized CRS technique has been coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS), and

Collective Sideband Cooling in an Optical Ring Cavity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We propose a cavity based laser cooling and trapping scheme, providing tight confinement and cooling to very low temperatures, without degradation at high particle densities.

Coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering microscopy

open access: yesThe Review of Laser Engineering, 2002
In this paper, new multiphoton microscopy using CARS (coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering) spectroscopy is described. CARS microscopy has the features of non-staining molecular mapping by molecular vibration imaging and three-dimensional resolution by multiphoton process.

Fiber-format dual-comb coherent Raman spectrometer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We demonstrate a fiber-format system for dual-comb coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering spectroscopy. The system is based on two ytterbium fiber (Yb) femtosecond lasers at repetition frequencies of 94 MHz, a Yb amplifier, and a photonic crystal fiber ...
