Repair of neuronal DNA damage in Alzheimer's disease by KCL‐286. (A) Amyloid‐β oligomers and plaques impair neuronal DNA repair pathways, leading to DNA double‐strand breaks and glial activation. (B) KCL‐286 activates RARβ/RXR signalling via retinoic acid response elements (RAREs), associated with increased BRCA1 expression, enhanced DNA repair and ...

Distributed Target Detection with Coherent Fusion in Tracking Based on Phase Prediction
In distributed radar, a coherent system often gains attention for its higher detection potential in contrast to its non-coherent counterpart. However, even for a distributed coherent radar, it is difficult to coherently accumulate local observations in ...

Optimizing the Limit of Detection of Waveguide-Based Interferometric Biosensor Devices
Waveguide-based photonic sensors provide a unique combination of high sensitivity, compact size and label-free, multiplexed operation. Interferometric configurations furthermore enable a simple, fixed-wavelength read-out making them particularly suitable

Free-Space Optical Communication With Spatial Modulation and Coherent Detection Over H-K Atmospheric Turbulence Channels [PDF]
The use of optical spatial modulation (OSM) is proposed as a simple low-complexity means of achieving spatial diversity in coherent free-space optical (FSO) communication systems.

ATZ‐1 promotes DNA replication efficiency to maintain normal meiotic function
Absence of ATZ‐1 interferes with meiotic DNA replication and cell cycle function via CHK‐1. This causes downstream defects associated with DNA damage and genomic integrity. Taken together, this study suggests that ATZ‐1 influences DNA replication efficiency and cell cycle function to maintain normal meiotic function.

Comparison of alternative image representations in the context of SAR change detection
This article compares four different alternative image representations in the context of a structure-based change detection. The framework is taken from the already published Curvelet-based change detection approach.

Educing coherent eddy structures in air curtain systems [PDF]
The work reported here comes within a broader research program dealing with ambiance separation or confining by means of air curtains (plane air jets). The process is studied experimentally by Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV).

Experimental Study on Partially Coherent Optical Coherent Detection
When coherent detection occurs, the polarization mismatch between signal light and local oscillator light can reduce the efficiency of coherent detection.

Phase demodulation method in phase-sensitive OTDR without coherent detection.
A phase demodulation method specially developed for direct detection φ-OTDR is proposed and demonstrated. It is the only method to date that can be used for phase demodulation based on pure direct detection system.
