Molecular approach for identification of Labeo bata based on COI gene sequence from Pakistan

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
DNA barcoding is a rapid, precise and effective way of species identification. A short and standard target gene/genetic marker is used to create sequence profile of identified species against unidentified. Specific tag or marker is used, which is derived

Genetic and physiological variation among sexual and parthenogenetic populations of Asobara japonica (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), a larval parasitoid of drosophilid flies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2009
We studied variations in genetic, physiological, and ecological traits, and the phylogenetic relationship among sexual and parthenogenetic populations of Asobara japonica, a larval parasitoid of drosophilid flies, in order to understand how they adapt to

A Coy Dauphin [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
From Ernest Thesiger, Practically True (London: Heinemann, 1927) pp. 141–2. Ernest Thesiger (1879–1961), actor, recalls here his flirtatious response to Shaw’s inviting him to play the Dauphin in the 1924 production of Saint Joan, a role in which he was brilliantly successful.

Megaptera novaeangliae COI

open access: yes, 2018
Insights into Megaptera novaeangliae COI sequence analysis Over more than a decade ago, COI region have been widely studied with the purpose to develop a “barcode” for species (e.g., Arnason et al., 2004; Amaral et al., 2007). However, as occurs with any new genetic tool, the barcode method still presents some limitations, such as the low availability ...

Sycophila pistacina (Hymenoptera: Eurytomidae): A valid species

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2008
Sycophila pistacina (Rondani), which was previously synonymized with Sycophila biguttata (Swederus), is revalidated. Morphological, morphometric and molecular data confirm its status as a separate species.

The enigmatic case of Lipoptena sp. in the Bosco della Mesola Nature Reserve (Italy)

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
This is the first report of Lipoptena andaluciensis in Italy, confirmed morphologically and genetically. The presence of L. andaluciensis in Italy dates back many years; it was found on cervids in lowland habitats. A re‐examination of the previous report of the Italian L. fortisetosa is needed.

Long-persisting SARS-CoV-2 spike-specific CD4+ T cells associated with mild disease and increased cytotoxicity post COVID-19

open access: yesNature Communications
The recent COVID-19 pandemic left behind the lingering question as whether new variants of concern might cause further waves of infection. Thus, it is important to investigate the long-term protection gained via vaccination or exposure to the SARS-CoV-2 ...

Complex population genetic structure of the bark beetle predator Thanasimus formicarius (L.) (Coleoptera: Cleridae) across its European range

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 27, Issue 3, Page 437-451, August 2025.
Abstract Thanasimus formicarius (L.) (Coleoptera: Cleridae) is an important bark beetle predator and can reduce bark beetle population densities of some of the most severe forest pests in Europe. We analysed the population genetics and phylogeography of T.

The Many Electron Ground State of the Adiabatic Holstein Model in Two and Three Dimensions

open access: yes, 2004
We present the complete ground state phase diagram of the Holstein model in two and three dimension considering the phonon variables to be classical. We first establish the overall structure of the phase diagram by using exact diagonalisation based Monte
