Clipping comparable to coiling in intracranial aneurysm
The 10-year follow-up results of the International Subarachnoid Aneurysm Trial essentially show the same results as the 5-year follow-up: no significant differences between endovascular coiling and neurosurgical clipping of ruptured intracranial ...

Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Electro-coiling of liquid jets
Interactions of fluid-fluid interfaces with electrical charging has led to a variety of dynamic phenomena and applications. For instance, the charging of a liquid jet can reduce its diameter, resulting in a whipping of the jet that is often used as a ...

The Hagfish Gland Thread Cell: A Fiber-Producing Cell Involved in Predator Defense
Fibers are ubiquitous in biology, and include tensile materials produced by specialized glands (such as silks), extracellular fibrils that reinforce exoskeletons and connective tissues (such as chitin and collagen), as well as intracellular filaments ...

ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

The dimensionality of a coiled helical coil
The helical coil is ubiquitous in biological and natural systems and often it is the basic form that leads to complex structures. This paper considers the question of its dimensionality in biological information as the helical coil goes through recursive coiling as happens to DNA and RNA molecules in chromatin. It has been shown that the dimensionality

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...
