Fructose‐Based Single‐Chain Polymer Nanoparticles for GLUT1–Mediated Delivery: Impact of Polymer Design on Uptake and In Vivo Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐chain nanoparticles have been proposed as drug delivery carriers, but adding a tail can significantly enhance their performance. This was demonstrated using a tadpole‐like structure comprising a head prepared from a UV‐crosslinked fructose‐based glycopolymer capable of targeting GLUT receptors, combined with a PEG‐based tail. Compared with other

Spin and Charge Control of Topological End States in Chiral Graphene Nanoribbons on a 2D Ferromagnet

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Chiral graphene nanoribbons on a ferromagnetic gadolinium‐gold surface alloy display tunable spin and charge states at their termini. Atomic work function variations and exchange fields enabe transitions between singlet, doublet, and triplet configurations.

A COIN-CATCHER FOR REMOVING COINS FROM THE ESOPHAGUS [PDF]

open access: yesJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1913
The country doctor is often handicapped by lack of instruments. I was called to remove a nickel from the esophagus of a 2-year-old child and I had nothing in my armamentarium. nor could I find anything in those of my neighbors, with which I could remove the nickel. The simple device that I thought of is to be had in any town.

Spin‐Split Edge States in Metal‐Supported Graphene Nanoislands Obtained by CVD

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Combining STM measurements and ab‐initio calculations, we show that zig‐zag edges in graphene nanoislands grown on Ni(111) by CVD retrieve their spin‐polarized edge states after intercalation of a few monolayers of Au. ABSTRACT Spin‐split states localized on zigzag edges have been predicted for different free‐standing graphene nanostructures.

A survey of the material and intellectual consequences of trading in undocumented ancient coins : a case study on the North American trade

open access: yes, 2008
Ancient coins are among the most widely collected and demanded objects among American collectors of antiquities. A vocal lobby of ancient coin dealers/collectors has arisen to protect the importation of undocumented material into the United States and ...

Polyimide‐Linked Hexaazatriphenylene‐Based Porous Organic Polymer with Multiple Redox‐Active Sites as a High‐Capacity Organic Cathode for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐capacity polyimide‐linked porous organic polymer (HAT‐PTO) incorporating numerous redox‐active centers is synthesized via a hydrothermal reaction, delivering a high theoretical capacity of 484 mAh g−1. In situ hybridization with carboxyl‐functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes enhances conductivity and stability, achieving 397 mAh g−1 at C ...
