Systematic design of a robust half-W1 photonic crystal waveguide for interfacing slow light and trapped cold atoms

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
Novel platforms interfacing trapped cold atoms and guided light in nanoscale waveguides are a promising route to achieve a regime of strong coupling between light and atoms in single pass, with applications to quantum non-linear optics and quantum ...

Ramsey interferometry with cold atoms in coherent population trapping

open access: yesAdvances in Physics: X
The utilization of Ramsey interferometry via coherent population trapping (CPT), which enables the optical interrogation of microwave transitions without the reliance on microwave cavities, plays a crucial role in the advancement of compact and low-power

Slight Truncation Changes in Iron Oxide Nanocubes Strongly Affect Their Magnetic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Subtle variations in nanoparticle morphology can lead to significant changes in functional properties. An automated shape‐fitting method captures minor differences in corner truncation between iron oxide nanocubes of similar sizes synthesized under identical conditions, revealing pronounced disparities in their magnetic and hyperthermia behavior ...

Coherent atom-light interactions in multi-level systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This thesis presents work on experiments performed using electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in Rubidium vapour cells. Starting with a simple three-level Λ-system, extra complexity is introduced by adding an additional control beam. This makes

Observation of Fermi Acceleration with Cold Atoms

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters
Cosmic rays are deemed to be generated by a process known as “Fermi acceleration” in which charged particles scatter against magnetic fluctuations in astrophysical plasmas. The process itself is, however, universal, has both classical and quantum formulations, and is at the basis of dynamical systems with interesting mathematical properties, such as ...

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Photoassociation of cold metastable helium atoms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
During the last decades the study of cold atoms has grown in a great measure. Research in this field has been made possible due to the development of laser cooling and trapping techniques.

Regulated Ion‐Diffusion Hydrogels for Subtle and Multimodal Temperature‐Strain Sensing in Wound Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A soft, dual‐channel hydrogel patch enables simultaneous detection of wound temperature and strain by integrating ion‐diffusion‐mediated thermoelectric and resistive sensing. The conformal design maintains stable performance during motion, capturing subtle inflammatory and mechanical changes for continuous wound monitoring.
