Application of the Analytic Model Based on Energy Balance into the Lake Ice Simulation of Qinghai Lake

open access: yesGaoyuan qixiang, 2023
Lake ice is sensitive to climate change.Under the background of global warming, lake ice is generally declining, and even some lakes in the Northern Hemisphere may not freeze in the future.Lakes are widely distributed in the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau, but ...

High Performance Durable Vanadium Dioxide Spectral Selective Modulation Smart Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Crystallinity‐enhanced VO2 nanoparticles with a self‐limited amorphous oxidation shell achieve an order of magnitude durability improvement and high spectral selective modulation performance (luminous transmittance of 28.5%, solar modulation of 10.5%, and mid‐infrared emissivity modulation of 0.5) for smart windows.

Comparison of Soil Water and Heat Transfer Modeling Over the Tibetan Plateau Using Two Community Land Surface Model (CLM) Versions

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, 2020
Soil water and heat transfer is one of the most important parts of water and energy partition between atmosphere and land surface, and it is more complicated over the cold regions.

Numerical Study of the Impact of Complex Terrain and Soil Moisture on Convective Initiation

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2020
The relative importance of topography and soil moisture on the initiation of an afternoon deep convection under weak synoptic-scale forcing was investigated using the weather research and forecasting (WRF) model with high resolution (1.33 km).

Analysis on the temporal and spatial characteristics of the shallow soil temperature of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Shallow soil refers to the soil layer within the 50 cm depth. Shallow soil temperature (ST) directly or indirectly affects many processes in the soil, such as seed germination, plant growth, and water evaporation. Therefore, the study of shallow ST is of

Electrostatically‐Stabilized PEG‐Free Lipid Nanoparticles for Systemic Nucleic Acid Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work describes non‐PEGylated layered lipid nanoparticles (nonPEG LLNPs), a gene delivery platform that improves upon standard PEGylated LNPs via electrostatic adsorption of charged polymers. nonPEG LLNPs maintain colloidal stability under biological stresses, enhance circulation time, and mitigate accelerated blood clearance and hepatic ...

Challenges in water and wastewater transport systems in cold regions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The water and wastewater transport systems faces severe challenges due to climate change, resource constrain and an aging infrastructure. In cold regions the challenges are also related to general conditions societies have in common, e.g.

Performance evaluation of a passive house in sub-arctic climate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
As the operational energy use in buildings contributes highly to the total energy used and greenhouse gases emitted in the cold climate regions of Europe, buildings which are more energy-efficient and less carbon-intensive during operation are key to ...
