Influence of spraying parameters on cold gas spraying of iron aluminide intermetallics

Surface and Coatings Technology, 2015
Abstract Cold spraying was used to build up coatings of ordered Fe40Al intermetallics, which are a kind of alloys which are being proposed for high temperature applications. The spray experiments were performed with chemically ordered powder feedstock of different size distributions to study influences from impact velocities.

Investigation of gas flow through a mask at cold spraying

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2020
The article presents an investigation of gas flow that occurs under typical for cold spraying conditions when supersonic gas jet, that exhausts from De Laval nozzle, and impinges on mask with a round perforation, behind that substrate is placed. Numerical simulation was made using software ANSYS Fluent. Shadowgraph was used to obtain images of gas flow.

Particle-Substrate Interactions in Cold Gas Dynamic Spraying

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2003
Abstract Aluminium powder of 99.7wt% purity and in the nominal particle size range –75+15µm has been sprayed onto a range of substrates by cold gas dynamic spraying (cold spraying). The substrates examined include metals with a range of hardness, polymers and ceramics.

Calibration of the Critical Velocity in Cold Gas Spraying

International Thermal Spray Conference
Abstract In cold gas spraying, successful bonding occurs when particle impact velocities exceed the critical velocity. The critical velocity formula depends on material properties and temperature upon impact, relying mainly on tabulated data of bulk material.

Cold gas spraying of semiconductor coatings for the photooxidation of water

SPIE Proceedings, 2013
This contribution shows the potential of cold gas spraying for the production of photoelectrodes employing photoelectrocatalysts for the water oxidation reaction. Conventional methods of coating usually employ sol-gel methods and calcination to obtain a good binding of the coating to the substrate.
