Effects of a moderate nocturnal cold stress on daytime sleep in humans

European Journal of Applied Physiology, 2003
The effects of a nocturnal exposure to a cool environment on daytime recovery sleep was studied in eight young (20-25 years old) healthy volunteers. A set of standardized clothing (KSU ensemble type) was provided to each individual (estimated total thermal resistance: 0.6 clo).

Particle Emissions at Moderate and Cold Temperatures Using Different Fuels

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2003
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Major part of the research work on particulate emissions has been carried out at normal ambient temperature (about +23 °C). In real life, the average day temperatures, especially in the winter season, are far below the “normal” temperature of the exhaust emission test procedures. For many years, it has been obvious

Direct measurement of cold neutron moderator spectra

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2008
Abstract The neutron flux distribution with respect to energy/wavelength of the cold source of the Budapest Neutron Centre has been measured using the energy resolved pinhole imaging method. A 2D position sensitive multiwire proportional counter has been used in time of flight regime together with a chopper placed at the position of the pinhole.

Benevolence in Moderation and Attention: When States Are Not So Cold

Traditionally, benevolence appears in international relations with the features of two state figures: the ‘benevolent neutral’ state that places itself outside of an armed conflict, and the ‘benevolent hegemonic’ state whose leadership makes it possible to institute an order that is beneficial to all members of the interstate society.
