An optical decelerator for cold molecules
2005 Quantum Electronics and Laser Science Conference, 2005We demonstrate a single stage optical Stark decelerator for neutral molecules which reduced the velocity of benzene molecules in a molecular beam by 25 m/s corresponding to a kinetic energy reduction of 15 %.

In a photoassociation process, two atoms absorb resonantly one photon to form a cold molecule in a ro-vibrational level of an electronically excited state.
