Shape Memory Microneedle to Prevent Risks of Reproductive Hormone Therapy by Switching Sustained to Burst Release Under a Single Transdermal Insertion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A shape‐memory microneedle system enables reproductive hormone therapy through a single transdermal insertion. The X‐shaped device sustains follicle‐stimulating hormone release for three days, and mild heating restores the O shape to trigger burst human chorionic gonadotropin release.

Ammonium Salts as Curing Agents to Obtain Ionic Epoxy Resins With a Thermoplastic‐to‐Thermoset Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.

One‐Dimensional Materials Supported in Two‐Dimensional Van der Waals Metal–Organic Frameworks with Optical Anisotropy Switching via Twist‐Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a molecular strategy to assemble one‐dimensional (1D) materials into two‐dimensional (2D) van der Waals metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Crystals of [FeX(pzX)(bpy)] (X = Cl, F) form anisotropic 2D layers that can be mechanically exfoliated into thin sheets.

Preparation of high strength and electrical conductivity copper-chromium pseudobinary alloy by cold-rolling of a billet produced by laser additive manufacturing

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
A new method to prepare large Cu–Cr alloy with both high strength and high conductivity has been developed. Cu–Cr billets are produced efficiently by laser additive manufacturing, and the microstructure of the alloy is changed by severe plastic ...

Microstructural evolution and magnetocaloric properties of cold plastically deformed La0.6Pr0.4Fe10.7Co0.8Si1.5 alloy

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng, 2023
In order to improve the preparation process and practical process of magnetic refrigerant, a method of accelerating phase formation by cold compression plastic deformation at room temperature was proposed. The grain structure, phase composition and magneto-thermal effects of La0.6Pr0.4Fe10.7Co0.8Si1.5 alloy were systematically studied. The results show

Self‐Seeded Nucleation of PET in a Benign Solvent Yields a High Modulus Aerogel With Ultra‐Low Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A new benign solvent (1,3‐diphenylacetone) enables a simple, safe, and sustainable dissolution and gelation method to convert waste PET into low density, monolithic aerogels with high mechanical strength (E = 20 MPa) and remarkably low thermal conductivity (k = 21.9 to 28.9 mW/m·K).
