A nanostructured, naturally flame‐retardant, and non‐toxic inorganic composite is introduced, which is laterally associated with silica nanoparticles to induce the restacking of the LDH lamella structure, thereby serving as an efficient thermal insulator.

Understanding Operando Water Management in Hydroxide‐Exchange‐Membrane Fuel Cells
Effective water management is vital for high‐performance hydroxide‐exchange‐membrane fuel cells. Using a custom water‐flux station, this study quantifies how membrane thickness, microporous layers, and operating conditions dictate internal water transport.

The cold resistance of Macaronesian Sempervivoideae
Oecologia, 1981Cold resistance of twenty-seven species of Macaronesian Sempervivoideae uniformly cultivated under cool moderate but not hardening conditions was measured. The resistance limits of all the tested species ranged between-4 and-10°C. Cold stress response was principially different: Cold resistance of about half of the tested species was due to freezing ...

Genetic control of plant resistance to cold
Russian Journal of Genetics, 2011Data on the main pathways of the effect of cold on plants and on the pathways of plant responses to cold stress are reviewed. Genes involved in these processes are described. Special attention is given to transcription factors regulating expression of cold resistance genes. In addition, the participation of hormones and metabolites in the protection of

Resistance of cold-exposed rats to aflatoxin
Experientia, 1976Male rats kept at a temperature of 4 degrees-5 degrees C were refractory to a lethal dose of aflatoxin compared to animals at 20 degrees-21 degrees C which exhibited a high mortality and marked liver damage. It is suggested that this decreased susceptibility is mediated through a stimulated microsomal drug-metabolizing system in cold environment.

Haemonchus contortus microtubules are cold resistant
Molecular and Biochemical Parasitology, 2014Haemonchus contortus is an important nematode of livestock that is present in most parts of the world. The life cycle comprises free living stages (egg, L1, L2 and L3 larvae), and parasitic stages (L4, adult and egg) in a ruminant. Microtubules are filamentous structures which are made from polymerization of α- and β-tubulin. In vitro polymerization of
