Resistance of cold-exposed rats to aflatoxin
Experientia, 1976Male rats kept at a temperature of 4 degrees-5 degrees C were refractory to a lethal dose of aflatoxin compared to animals at 20 degrees-21 degrees C which exhibited a high mortality and marked liver damage. It is suggested that this decreased susceptibility is mediated through a stimulated microsomal drug-metabolizing system in cold environment.

Genetic control of plant resistance to cold
Russian Journal of Genetics, 2011Data on the main pathways of the effect of cold on plants and on the pathways of plant responses to cold stress are reviewed. Genes involved in these processes are described. Special attention is given to transcription factors regulating expression of cold resistance genes. In addition, the participation of hormones and metabolites in the protection of

pUB2380: Characterization of a ColD-like Resistance Plasmid
Plasmid, 2000A detailed analysis of the mobilizable, ColE1-like resistance plasmid, pUB2380, is reported. The 8.5-kb genome encodes six (possibly seven) major functions: (1) a ColD-like origin of replication, oriV, with associated replication functions, RNAI and RNAII; (2) a set of active mobilization functions highly homologous to that of ColE1, including the ...

Resistance to Cold in Ceratomia catalpae
Nature, 1967SALT1 has reported resistance to frost and to being frozen in several species of arthropods. He has also reported on the synthesis and accumulation of a low molecular weight solute (glycerol) in insects and has suggested that this may explain resistance to cold2.

Cold resistance diagram of constructional steels
Strength of Materials, 19881. On the basis of the relationships of linear fracture mechanics cold resistance diagram were developed and obtained for a number of constructional steels in the form of the relationships of the transition temperature to the logarithm of crack length corresponding to reaching by the nominal failure stresses of the yield strength of the material in ...

Increasing cold resistance and wear resistance of railway rails
Ferrous Metallurgy. Bulletin of Scientific , Technical and Economic InformationThe article presents the results of theoretical, laboratory and industrial studies aimed at improving the per-formance of railway rails in areas with severe operating conditions: low temperatures, complex track plan and increased loads, which is typical for the roads of the Eastern Polygon.

Blast Resistant Design in Cold Regions
2023An increasing interest of oil and gas production industries into the Arctic region has encouraged the research on cold resistant materials and structures. Since these oil and gas facilities handle hydrocarbons and other inflammable fuels, there have been incidences and always been a high potential risk of accidental explosions.
