Cold Spray: Its Prominence as an Additive Manufacturing Technology

2020
Cold gas dynamic spray (or the ‘cold spray’) technology has brought the attention to effectively realize additive manufacturing concept by better aligning innovative material design with precision manufacturing. The evolutionary technology with the revolutionary concept is permitting the creation of substrate surface unprecedented to human history. The

Cold Spray Technology for Light Metals and Porous Structures

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Studies show that, for viable product realisation and maintenance, a spectrum of novel processing technologies and materials to improve performance and reduce costs and environmental impact must constantly be addressed. One of these technologies, namely the cold spray process has enabled a broad range of coatings and applications, including many that ...

Latest Technology for Commercially Available Cold Spray Systems

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2006
Abstract The industrial use of cold spraying started in 2001 with the introduction of the Kinetic 3000 Cold Spray System from CGT. The heater is designed for a 24-hour operation and has proved its reliability in several installations. The powder feeder can run at the high feed rate of the Kinetic 3000 and is easy to operate.

Bio-Ceramic Composite Coatings by Cold Spray Technology

International Thermal Spray Conference, 2009
Abstract This work shows that hydroxyapatite (HA) can be cold sprayed simultaneously with titanium to form thick biocompatible coatings without compromising the phase constituents of the bioceramic material. XRD analysis indicates that the phase composition of the HA in the deposit is identical to that of the powder.

Control of spray spot in cold spray technology. Part 1. Gas dynamic aspects

Thermophysics and Aeromechanics, 2014
This paper presents a study of supersonic jets formed by approaches that are new for cold spray technique: the main flow is swirled, the nozzles with permeable profiles and with exit slots on the supersonic section are engineered. The flow swirling achieved in the nozzle prechamber retains downstream to substrate surface. The system of vortices created

Cold Spray Coating Technology for Metallic Components Repairing

2014
Cold spraying is a coating technology on the basis of aerodynamics and high-speed impact dynamics. In this process, spray particles (usually 1–50 mm in diameter) are accelerated to a high velocity (typically 300–1,200 m/s) by a high-speed gas flow that is generated through a convergent-divergent de Laval type nozzle.
