The Effects of Various Physical and Chemical Agents on a Staphylococcus Bacteriophage [PDF]

open access: yes, 1956
In recent years considerable attention has been focused on a group of organisms known as bacterial viruses or bacteriophages. These minute virus particles are parasitic upon bacterial cells and probably most bacteria are susceptible to one or more of ...

Influence of bioreaction on a long-term operation of a submerged membrane adsorption hybrid system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This study investigates the long-term performance of a submerged membrane adsorption hybrid system (SMAHS) for organic matter removal from synthetic wastewater representing biologically treated wastewater by using a low dose of powdered activated carbon (

Roles of stiffness and excluded volume in DNA denaturation

open access: yes, 2002
The nature and the universal properties of DNA thermal denaturation are investigated by Monte Carlo simulations. For suitable lattice models we determine the exponent c describing the decay of the probability distribution of denaturated loops of length l,

Codon contexts in enterobacterial and coliphage genes. [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Biology and Evolution, 1987
This investigation of the codon context of enterobacteria, plasmid, and phage protein genes was based on a search for correlations between the presence of one base type at codon position III and the presence of another base type at some other position in adjacent codons.

Evaluation of electrospray differential mobility analysis for virus particle analysis: Potential applications for biomanufacturing. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The technique of electrospray differential mobility analysis (ES-DMA) was examined as a potential potency assay for routine virus particle analysis in biomanufacturing environments (e.g., evaluation of vaccines and gene delivery products for lot release)

Recovery of somatic coliphages in shellfish

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 1995
A phage recovery technique is described that is shown to be easy to perform and sensitive. It is efficient in detecting somatic coliphages in mussels artificially contaminated, even at very low levels. Good results are also reported for detection and enumeration of naturally occurring coliphages in mussels and cockles from the French Atlantic coast.

Trimethoprim: An Old Antibacterial Drug as a Template to Search for New Targets. Synthesis, Biological Activity and Molecular Modeling Study of Novel Trimethoprim Analogs

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
A new series of trimethoprim (TMP) analogs containing amide bonds (1−6) have been synthesized. Molecular docking, as well as dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) inhibition assay were used to confirm their affinity to bind dihydrofolate reductase enzyme.
