Characteristics of intercontinental transport of tropospheric ozone from Africa to Asia [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2018
In this study, we characterize the transport of ozone from Africa to Asia through the analysis of the simulations of a global chemical transport model, GEOS-Chem, from 1987 to 2006.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Outlier Detection in Collaborative Studies

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1990
Abstract Extended tables of critical values for the reduction In standard deviation tests for single and paired outliers recommended for collaborative studies are presented. Critical values for the single outlier test are derived mathematically and those for the paired test are derived from computer simulations.

Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

Scanning cathodoluminescence microscopy: applications in semiconductor and metallic nanostructures

open access: yesOpto-Electronic Advances, 2018
Cathodoluminescence (CL) as a radiative light produced by an electron beam exciting a luminescent material, has been widely used in imaging and spectroscopic detection of semiconductor, mineral and biological samples with an ultrahigh spatial resolution.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Thysanoptera biodiversity in the Neotropics

open access: yesRevista de Biología Tropical, 2002
It is suggested that descriptive taxonomy of thrips must be integrated into biological studies if we are to understand patterns of evolutionary and ecological diversity.

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...
