Collagen cross-linking in bovine gingiva
Archives of Oral Biology, 1991Tissue samples from 5 different sites of 6 bovine mandibles were used to quantify collagen cross-links as moles cross-link per mole of collagen. Gingiva contained primarily 3 reducible cross-links, deH-DHLNL, deH-HHMD, and deH-HLNL, and relatively small amounts of non-reducible cross-links.

The timecourse of collagen cross-linking
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1974Abstract The incorporation of [ 3 H] proline into all major denaturation subunits of acid-extractable skin collagen was followed in vivo over a period of 30 days in young male rats. The radioactivity was incorporated into the α 1 and α 2 subunits at an equal rate.

Collagen Cross-Linking Influences Osteoblastic Differentiation
Calcified Tissue International, 2008Osteoblasts synthesize collagen matrix, which itself regulates the differentiation of precursor cells into mature osteoblasts. They express lysyl oxidase (LOX), which is involved in the collagen cross-linking process. Lathyrogens, like ss-aminopropionitrile (ssAPN), inhibit the formation of a stable matrix.

Genipin-Cross-linked Electrospun Collagen Fibers
Journal of Biomaterials Science, Polymer Edition, 2011The fabrication of a fibrous collagen scaffold using electrospinning is desirable for tissue-engineering applications. Previously, electrospun collagen fibers were shown to be unstable in aqueous environments and, therefore, cross-linking is essential to stabilize these fibers.

Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking Window Absorption
Cornea, 2013To evaluate the safety and efficacy of treatment of severe infectious corneal ulcers with hypoosmolar riboflavin solution and UV-A collagen cross-linking (CXL) without deepithelizing the cornea.Four eyes of 3 patients with severe keratitis and associated corneal melting, were treated with a new protocol of corneal CXL for infectious keratitis, named ...

Collagen cross-linking and corneal infections
Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2013This review presents current data regarding the use of collagen cross-linking in the management of corneal infections. Infectious keratitis can lead to blindness without proper antimicrobial therapy. The disease can still progress and lead to corneal melt despite early detection and management.

Corneal collagen cross-linking for keratoconus
Vestnik oftal'mologii, 2015Over the last decade, corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) has become a conventional treatment method for progressive keratoconus. Laboratory studies have shown that CXL increases the diameter of collagen fibers and also the number of intra- and interfibrillar cross-links, thus, increasing biomechanical strength of the irradiated cornea.

Collagen cross-links in fibromyalgia syndrome
Zeitschrift fr Rheumatologie, 1998The acceptance of fibromyalgia as a disease entity and its definitive diagnosis have been hampered by a dearth of knowledge concerning the underlying pathophysiology of this disease and the lack of specific biochemical markers applicable to its diagnosis.
