Hydrogels Augmented With Artificial Sweeteners can Inhibit Multidrug‐Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii Growth and Biofilm Formation While Demonstrating Safety in Pre‐Clinical Pilot Human Trials

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Using PVA–borax hydrogels as carriers for off‐the‐shelf artificial sweeteners to fight multidrug‐resistant A. baumannii. These soft, biocompatible hydrogels rapidly reduce bacterial viability within multidrug‐resistant A. baumannii biofilms by more than 99% within one hour and sustain antimicrobial activity over time, while demonstrating safety in both

Patient‐Derived 3D Heart‐On‐a‐Chip Model of Dilated Cardiomyopathy With Embedded Bead‐Based Mapping of Tissue Contractility

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A heart‐on‐a‐chip model of dilated cardiomyopathy is developed from patient‐derived induced pluripotent stem cells. The model recapitulates key disease phenotypes and enables functional assessment through integrated bead‐based tracking and pillar deflection measurements.

Engineered Microvascular Model of the Blood–Brain–Tumor Barrier Reveals Endothelial Remodeling in Diffuse Midline Glioma

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We developed a patient‐derived, functional microfluidic model of the diffuse midline glioma (DMG) blood–brain–tumor barrier (BBTB) comprised of endothelial cells, astrocytes, pericytes, and tumor cells. The system forms perfusable microvasculature, reveals the BBTB retains vascular integrity, identifies DMG‐specific transcriptomic changes distinct from

The Effect Of Kirinyuh Leaves Aqueous Extract (Chromolaena odorata (L) R.M.King & H.Rob.) on Phase 2 Collagen Density Wound Healing in Mice (Mus musculus)

open access: yesJKS (Jurnal Kedokteran Syiah Kuala)
Introduction: Various plants have been extensively researched for their ability to hasten wound healing. Kirinyuh plants (Chromolaena odorata (L) R.M.King H.Rob.) includes several secondary metabolite chemicals that can help to accelerate wound healing.

Conjugated Porphyrin Polymer With Superior Charge Transfer for Photodynamic‐Immunomodulatory Prevention of CIED Infection in Diabetes

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Under NIR irradiation, PTCPP generates ROS to eliminate MRSA biofilms and promote M1 macrophage polarization for phagocytosis. After bacterial clearance, the material is phagocytosed by macrophages, shifting their polarization to M2 phenotype via metabolic reprogramming, which synergistically enhances anti‐infection therapy and wound healing.

Differences in collagen structure and organization in primary and metastatic pancreatic cancer and the effects of FOLFIRINOX treatment

open access: yesMatrix Biology Plus
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is defined by a dense, collagen-rich stroma that limits therapeutic efficacy and drives metastasis. While collagen reorganization has been studied in resected PDAC tumors, its structure and organization in ...

Engineering Concentration‐Dependent Intravitreal Mobility via Cyclic Arginine‐Enriched Nanocarrier Surface Modification: In Vivo Proof‐of‐Concept in a Porcine Large Animal Model

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, Hammer et al. highlight cyclic‐arginine surface engineering as a highly biocompatible, controllable, and concentration‐dependent regulator of intravitreal nanoparticle mobility in vivo in a translational large animal model. The cyclic arginine surface‐modification supports the development of next‐generation biomaterials for long‐acting ...
