Collar Rot and Basal Canker of Sugar Maple
Arboriculture & Urban Forestry, 1982Two types of trunk symptoms are associated with urban maple decline in Wisconsin. One is a "basal canker," caused by Fusarium spp., and the other is a "collar rot" caused by a Phytophthora sp. Phytophthora collar rot appears to be more destructive. Trunk girdling by these diseases, both occasionally observed on the same tree, was greatest on trees with

Cotyledon and collar rot of Bauhinia purpurea and its management
Indian Journal of Forestry, 1999Collar rot of Bauhinia purpurea caused by Rhizoctonia solani was recorded for the first time in India. The fungus also attacked cotyledons and caused rotting to varying extent. The disease was effectively controlled by seed treatment with Thiride @ 6g/kg and soil drenching with Dithane M-45 (0.3%) @ 20 ml per tube in root trainers prior to sowing of ...

Root and Collar Rot of Milkwort Caused by Cylindrocladium pauciramosum, a New Record for Europe
European Journal of Plant Pathology, 1999A new disease of milkwort (Polygala myrtifolia) was observed on several commercial nurseries in southern Italy. Diseased plants showed wilting, stunting, chlorosis or loss of foliage, and rotting of the basal stem as well as the crown and roots. A Cylindrocladium species was consistently found associated with crown, basal stem, and root lesions.
