In the 1950s, the State of Florida led the way in developing a national model for the development of the junior or community college system. The Brown vs Board of Education Supreme Court Decision impacted the segregated system and during the 1960s, Florida's 12 black junior colleges were merged with pre-existent majority campuses.

Collection development for government map collections
Government Publications Review. Part A, 1981Abstract Of the maps produced worldwide 80% are published by government agencies. In developing a map collection the librarian faces problems very different from those involved in developing a documents or book collection. This article reviews those problems, and suggests a methodology for use in developing the map collection.
