Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

Collective excitations in two-dimensional SU(N) Fermi gases with tunable spin

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
We measure collective excitations of a harmonically trapped two-dimensional (2D) SU(N) Fermi gas of ^{173}Yb confined to a stack of layers formed by a one-dimensional optical lattice.

Collective excitations of the QED vacuum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Using relativistic Green’s-function techniques we examined single-electron excitations from the occupied Dirac sea in the presence of strong external fields.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Surface collective excitations in ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy of metal nanoparticles

open access: yes, 2000
The role of surface collective excitations in the electron relaxation in small metal particles is studied. It is shown that the dynamically screened electron-electron interaction in a nanoparticle contains a size-dependent correction induced by the ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Amplitude-mode dynamics of polariton condensates

open access: yes, 2011
We study the stability of collective amplitude excitations in non-equilibrium polariton condensates. These excitations correspond to renormalized upper polaritons and to the collective amplitude modes of atomic gases and superconductors.
