Photo-plasmonic effect as the hot electron generation mechanism

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Based on the effective Schrödinger–Poisson model a new physical mechanism for resonant hot-electron generation at irradiated half-space metal–vacuum interface of electron gas with arbitrary degree of degeneracy is proposed.

Bulk and edge excitations of a $\nu =1$ Hall ferromagnet

open access: yes, 2001
In this article, we shall focus on the collective dynamics of the fermions in a $\nu = 1$ quantum Hall droplet. Specifically, we propose to look at the quantum Hall ferromagnet.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Dynamics of ternary liquid mixtures: Generalized collective modes analysis

open access: yesCondensed Matter Physics, 2007
A parameter-free generalized collective modes (GCM) approach is applied to the study of longitudinal and transverse dynamics in a ternary Lennard-Jones liquid mixture.

Present status of coupled-channels calculations for heavy-ion subbarrier fusion reactions

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2016
The coupled-channels method has been a standard tool in analyzing heavy-ion fusion reactions at energies around the Coulomb barrier. We investigate three simplifications usually adopted in the coupledchannels calculations.

Coherent collective dynamics in phospholipid membranes: where are we now?

open access: yesAtti della Accademia Peloritana dei Pericolanti : Classe di Scienze Fisiche, Matematiche e Naturali, 2020
We review the main achievements accomplished in the study of the coherent collective dynamics of phospholipid membranes, i.e., the collective vibrational excitations active on the sub-picoseconds to picoseconds time scale and terahertz frequencies, over ...

Random-phase approximation study of collective excitations in the Bose-Fermi mixed condensate of alkali-metal gases

open access: yes, 2002
We perform Random Phase Approximation (RPA) study of collective excitations in the bose-fermi mixed degenerate gas of Alkali-metal atoms at T=0. The calculation is done by diagonalization in a model space composed of particle-hole type excitations from ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

An ab initio study of the static, dynamic and electronic properties of some liquid 5d transition metals near melting

open access: yesCondensed Matter Physics, 2023
We report a study on the static and dynamic properties of several liquid 5d transition metals at thermodynamic conditions near their respective melting points. This is performed by resorting to ab initio molecular dynamics simulations in the framework of

Non-collective excitations in low-energy heavy-ion reactions: applicability of the random-matrix model

open access: yes, 2013
We investigate the applicability of a random-matrix model to the description of non-collective excitations in heavy-ion reactions around the Coulomb barrier.
