Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

Multi-Family Households in a Labour Supply Model: A Calibration Method with Application to Poland [PDF]

open access: yes
The collective model of labour supply opened the household “black box” and allowed for individual treatment of partners in couples. However, the literature on labour supply has so far largely ignored a broader issue with special relevance to transition ...

Nakłady inwestycyjne na infrastrukturę ochrony środowiska na obszarach wiejskich - studium przypadku wsi dolnośląskiej

open access: yesPrace Naukowe Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego we Wrocławiu, 2019
The study presents the results of the analysis of investment expenditure incurred for the development of selected devices and technical infrastructure facilities serving environmental protection in the Lower Silesian village in 2007-2016.

Kernel Treatment Effects with Adaptively Collected Data

open access: yesCoRR
Adaptive experiments improve efficiency by adjusting treatment assignments based on past outcomes, but this adaptivity breaks the i.i.d.\ assumptions that underpin classical asymptotics. At the same time, many questions of interest are distributional, extending beyond average effects.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Biological Denitrification System with Membrane Separation for Collective Human Excreta Treatment Plant

open access: yes, 1992
In Japan there are about 1200 collective night-soil treatment plants which treat about 42,700,000 population equivalent of night soil and 30,000,000 population equivalent of on-site treatment tank sludge.

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Isospin-symmetry violation. Collective treatment of the I.A.S

open access: yes, 2004
We study the effects of isospin symmetry violation in the description of the isobaric analogue state (I.A.S.). The sources of such violation are either spurious (like isospin violations induced by the choice of the independent-particle basis), or have a ...

Correlating Enzymatic Reactivity for Different Substrates using Transferable Data-Driven Collective Variables

open access: yes
Machine learning is transforming the investigation of complex biological processes. In enzymatic catalysis, one significant challenge is identifying the reactive conformations of the enzyme:substrate complex where the substrate assumes a precise ...
