Membrane nanowaves in single and collective cell migration. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
We report the characterization of three-dimensional membrane waves for migrating single and collective cells and describe their propagation using wide-field optical profiling technique with nanometer resolution. We reveal the existence of small and large

Effectiveness of a Novel Low‐Density Lipoprotein Apheresis Device Rheocarna in Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis With Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia: A Single‐Center Retrospective Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) is a severe form of lower‐extremity artery disease characterized by distal lesions and microcirculatory impairment, limiting revascularization efficacy. Rheocarna is a direct hemoperfusion low‐density lipoprotein (LDL) adsorption device with potential rheological and anti‐inflammatory ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Levers to Improve Antibiotic Treatment of Lambs via Drinking Water in Sheep Fattening Houses: The Example of the Sulfadimethoxine/Trimethoprim Combination

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2020
To limit the spread of bacterial diseases in sheep fattening houses, antibiotics are often administered collectively. Collective treatments can be delivered by drinking water but data on the drug’s solubility in water or on plasma exposure of the animals

FOR AN EFFICIENT TREATMENT OF EVIDENCE: THE MULTIDISTRICT LITIGATION AS A COLLECTIVE CASE MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUE

open access: yesRevista Eletrônica de Direito Processual, 2021
This article analyzes the multidistrict litigation of North American law as a way of providing an adequate treatment to causes that have similar issues of fact and that, therefore, admit joint evidential instruction.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Cancel Culture & Collective Validation

open access: yes, 2023
Application of the concept of validation to the social psychological intergroup context is limited. However, collective validation may play an important role in building the psychological bases (e.g., feelings of collective empowerment) that can initiate

RESEARCH METHOD FOR THE SOCIAL ACCEPTABILITY OF IMPLEMENTING A COLLECTIVE SYSTEM OF SEWAGE DISPOSAL AND TREATMENT

open access: yesEconomics and Environment, 2016
This article presents the procedure for assessing the social acceptability of the implementation of a collective sewage collection and treatment system, basing on the conditional valuation method, using the willingness to pay research (WTP).
