Activity of Quinones on Colletotrichum Species

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2003
The antifungal activity of 1,4-naphthoquinones, 1,2-naphthoquinones, 1,4-benzoquinones, and anthraquinones from our natural products collection was tested by direct bioautography to identify natural products with potential use in agricultural fungal pathogen control. Quinones demonstrated good to moderate antifungal activity against Colletotrichum spp.

Pathogenicity ofColletotrichumspecies toProteacultivars

Australasian Plant Pathology, 2006
Colletotrichum species cause a wide range of diseases on Proteaceae. Four Colletotrichum species, C. acutatum, C. acutatum f. sp. hakea, C. boninense and C. gloeosporioides, have been associated with diseased Proteaceae in South Africa. In this study, the pathogenicity of these taxa was evaluated on three Protea cultivars.

Colletotrichum species from Jasmine (Jasminum sambac)

Fungal Diversity, 2010
Colletotrichum species associated with leaf and flower anthracnose of jasmine (Jasminum sambac) in the Ho Chi Minh region of Vietnam are reported. The disease of jasmine plantations was considered serious as it likely reduced flower yield. Leaves were colonized by Colletotrichum species which formed chlorotic regions with light brown necrotic centres ...

Colletotrichum species associated with sugarcane red rot in Brazil

Fungal Biology, 2022
Sugarcane is a widely cultivated crop in Brazil and in many parts of the world. However, the red rot causes huge losses due to the reduction of sucrose and deterioration of the juice. The aim of this study was to identify Colletotrichum species associated with the red rot through polyphasic approaches; which included phylogenetic, morpho-cultural ...

Colletotrichum gigasporum sp. nov., a new species of Colletotrichum producing long straight conidia

Mycological Progress, 2012
A new species of Colletotrichum was described, based on morphology and phylogeny. The fungus was isolated in Madagascar from healthy leaves of Centella asiatica, in Mexico from wild native of Stylosanthes guianensis and in Colombia from Coffea arabica.

Colletotrichum species associated with chili anthracnose in Australia

Plant Pathology, 2016
Phylogenetic relationships were determined for 45 Colletotrichum isolates causing anthracnose disease of chili in Queensland, Australia. Initial screening based on morphology, ITS and TUB ...

New Species of Colletotrichum and Phoma

Mycologia, 1915
During the course of my investigations in the Salt Lake Valley, I have found many clover fields in which the stems and petioles of red clover (Trifolium pratense L.) and alsike clover (Trifolium hybridum L.) were infected with a Colletotrichum which does not agree in its characteristics with Colletotrichumn Trifolii Bain.

Methods for Long-Term Stable Storage of Colletotrichum Species

2016
In this chapter we describe methods for long-term preservation of ascomycete genus Colletotrichum species. Colletotrichum species employ a hemibiotrophic infection strategy and cause clear anthracnose diseases on various host plants including the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana.

Utilization of some monosaccharides by two species of Colletotrichum

Mycopathologia et Mycologia Applicata, 1967
Utilization of 8 monosaccharides, viz., glucose, fructose, galactose, mannose, sorbose, arabinose, xylose and rhamnose, by some plant pathogenic isolates ofColletotrichum gloeosphorioides andC. dematium has been studied with the help of paper chromatography. Among hexoses, the rate of utilization of glucose, fructose and mannose was fast, whereas, that
