Identification of Electrolyte Salts in Lithium‐Ion Battery Black Mass
Chemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.Ion chromatographic and thermal analyses demonstrated that the PF6– ions in LIB black mass were not due to LiPF6 residues. Instead, industrial samples contained NaPF6. As a result, thermal treatments showed an increased F– concentration due to PF6– decomposition, which complicates lithium recycling due to the immobilization of LiF.
