BentSign: keyed hash algorithm based on bent Boolean function and chaotic attractor [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences: Technical Sciences, 2019
In this study, we propose a novel keyed hash algorithm based on a Boolean function and chaotic attractor. The hash algorithm called BentSign is based on two Signature attractors and XOR function and a bent Boolean function.

Compactness of Hashing Modes and Efficiency beyond Merkle Tree [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We revisit the classical problem of designing optimally efficient cryptographically secure hash functions. Hash functions are traditionally designed via applying modes of operation on primitives with smaller domains. The results of Shrimpton and Stam (ICALP 2008), Rogaway and Steinberger (CRYPTO 2008), and Mennink and Preneel (CRYPTO 2012) show how to ...

On the power of memory in the design of collision resistant hash functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Collision resistant hash functions are an important basic tool for cryptographic applications such as digital signature schemes and integrity protection based on “fingerprinting”. This paper proposes a new efficient class of hash functions based on a block cipher that allows for a tradeoff between security and speed.

Low‐Activation Compositionally Complex Alloys for Advanced Nuclear Applications—A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐activation compositionally complex alloys (LACCAs) are advanced metallic materials primarily composed of low‐activation elements, offering advantages such as rapid compliance with operational standards and safe recyclability. This review highlights their potential for extreme high‐temperature irradiation environments as structural materials for ...

Coulomb drag between ballistic quantum wires

open access: yes, 2012
We develop a kinetic equation description of Coulomb drag between ballistic one-dimensional electron systems, which enables us to demonstrate that equilibration processes between right- and left-moving electrons are crucially important for establishing ...

Microstructure, Mechanical Properties, and Antibacterial Performance of Novel Fe‐Mn‐Zn Nanocrystalline Alloys Produced by Mechanical Alloying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the development of Fe‐Mn‐Zn nanocrystalline alloys (0–9 wt% Zn) by mechanical alloying and subsequently hot pressing. Their microstructure, density, hardness, wear resistance, corrosion behavior, and antibacterial properties are systematically examined.

Modeling and tackling resistivity scaling in metal nanowires [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A self-consistent analytical solution of the multi-subband Boltzmann transport equation with collision term describing grain boundary and surface roughness scattering is presented to study the resistivity scaling in metal nanowires. The different scattering mechanisms and the influence of their statistical parameters are analyzed.

Active Hydrogen for Electrochemical Ammonia Synthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides a comprehensive overview of the active hydrogen (H*) for electrochemical ammonia synthesis with particular attention given to the regulation of H* generation and consumption to suppress the competition of hydrogen evolution reaction and enhance the yield, selectivity, and Faradaic efficiency of ammonia.

LOCAL COLLISION SIMULATION OF AN SC WALL USING ENERGY ABSORBING STEEL

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2013
This study evaluates the local damage of a turbine in an auxiliary building of a nuclear power plant due to an external impact by using the LS-DYNA finite element program. The wall of the auxiliary building is SC structure and the material of the SC wall

A simple Solvable Model of Body Motion in a One-dimensional Resistive Medium [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2001
We introduce and solve in closed form a simple model of a macroscopic body propagating in a one-dimensional resistive medium at temperature T. The assumption of completely inelastic collisions between the body and the particles composing the medium leads to a resistive force that is opposite and proportional to the square of the body's ...
