Application of Radial Basis Functions for Height Datum Unification

open access: yesGeosciences, 2018
Local gravity field modelling demands high-quality gravity data as well as an appropriate mathematical model. Particularly in coastal areas, there may be different types of gravity observations available, for instance, terrestrial, aerial, marine gravity,

Collocation networks in the language of crime journalism [PDF]

open access: yesStudii de Lingvistica, 2017
Standard procedures for the treatment of collocates, which involve the elaboration of lists of collocates on a two-by-two basis, are far from optimum for the study of connectivity, i.e. observing whether these collocates in turn display a tendency to co-

The Study of the Students\u27 Collocation Performance in Argumentative Writing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Collocation is used by most of the native speaker in both writing and speaking authentic English. This paper focused on knowing the students\u27 collocation knowledge by examining their lexical and grammatical collocation performance in their ...

Data‐driven forecasting of ship motions in waves using machine learning and dynamic mode decomposition

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Summary Data‐driven forecasting of ship motions in waves is investigated through feedforward and recurrent neural networks as well as dynamic mode decomposition. The goal is to predict future ship motion variables based on past data collected on the field, using equation‐free approaches.

Corpus technologies in the study of collocations (by the example of “AntConc” and “SketchEngine” services)

open access: yesStudia Humanitatis, 2022
This work reviews opportunities of studying collocations using corpus technologies. The definitions of the concepts “corpus” and “corpus manager” are given. The definitions of “collocation” in the broad sense and from the corpus linguistics point of view

Optimal-order isogeometric collocation at Galerkin superconvergent points

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper we investigate numerically the order of convergence of an isogeometric collocation method that builds upon the least-squares collocation method presented in [1] and the variational collocation method presented in [2].

Static and Dynamic Behavior of Novel Y‐Shaped Sandwich Beams Subjected to Compressive Loadings: Integration of Supervised Learning and Experimentation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the mechanical response of Y‐shaped core sandwich beams under compressive loading is investigated, using deep feed‐forward neural networks (DFNNs) for predictive modeling. The DFNN model accurately captures stress–strain behavior, influenced by design parameters and loading rates.

The Spatial-Dynamic Benefits from Cooperative Disease Control in a Perennial Crop

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, 2017
We develop a novel spatial-dynamic model of landowners managing a disease in a perennial crop. We use the model to investigate the dynamic gains from cooperation to address the spatial externality resulting from disease vector dispersal.

Multifunctional Artefacts and Collocation

open access: yesMetaphysics, 2022
There appear to be multifunctional artefacts of a type such that none of their functions can be attributed only to some proper part of the artefact. I use two examples of allegedly multifunctional artefacts of this kind in what follows, one due to Lynne ...

Scalable Manufacturing of Radiation‐Tolerant Potentiometric Electrodes: A Systematic Transition from Laboratory to Semiautomated Fabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laboratory protocols for producing thin‐film pH electrodes for sterilized single‐use technologies have been successfully developed into a semiautomated workflow, with higher throughput and precision of membrane thickness. Accuracies are within 0.05 pH units versus ground truth, and uncertainty analysis reveals the largest sources of error to be derived
