Performance evaluation of a high-performance offshore cementing wastes accelerating agent

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2022
This article reports a quick-setting agent named AS-G1. In the current offshore oil exploitation, there are usually wastes mixed with the drilling fluid, completion fluid, cement slurry, etc.

Use of Androcoll-ETM to Separate Frozen-Thawed Llama Sperm From Seminal Plasma and Diluent

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2021
It is not easy to separate frozen-thawed South American camelid sperm from seminal plasma (SP) and diluents to be used for in vitro embryo production. The objective of this study was to evaluate Androcoll-E™ (AE) efficiency to separate llama sperm from ...

Fluid-fluid demixing curves for colloid-polymer mixtures in a random colloidal matrix

open access: yes, 2011
We study fluid-fluid phase separation in a colloid-polymer mixture adsorbed in a colloidal porous matrix close to the \theta -point. For this purpose we consider the Asakura-Oosawa model in the presence of a quenched matrix of colloidal hard spheres.

Phagocytic properties of lung alveolar wall cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
For the purpose to define the mechanism of heavy metal intoxication by inhalation, morphologic observations were made on rat lungs after nasal instillation of iron colloid particles of positive and negative electric charges. Histochemical observation was

A Novel Approach to Produce Metal–Metal Composites by Leveraging Immiscibility: Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Nanosilver‐Dispersed Titanium

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Incorporating nanosized silver into titanium for antimicrobial materials exploits the metastable miscibility gap between silver and titanium. Silver nanoparticles are synthesized via pulsed laser ablation in liquid. Silver addition refines the microstructure, increases hardness by 30%, and reduces Staphylococcus capitis microbial adhesion by 70%, with ...

CYTO-STRUCTURE OF THYROID GLAND INFLUENCED BY “CASPIAN” WATER RESOURCES OF THE REPUBLIC OF DAGESTAN

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений. Поволжский регион: Медицинские науки, 2020
Background. The incidence of thyroid disorders is increasing every year in Russia. One of the priority reasons for the growth of thyroid diseases is undoubtedly iodine deficiency, as well as the consequences of human activity-environmental pollution ...

Solvent coarsening around colloids driven by temperature gradients

open access: yes, 2017
Using mesoscopic numerical simulations and analytical theory we investigate the coarsening of the solvent structure around a colloidal particle emerging after a temperature quench of the colloid surface.

A Different Perspective on the Solid Lubrication Performance of Black Phosphorous: Friend or Foe?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Researchers investigate black phosphorous (BP) as a standalone solid lubricant coating through ball‐on‐disc linear‐reciprocating sliding experiments in dry conditions. Testing on different metals shows BP doesn't universally reduce friction and wear. However, it achieves 33% friction reduction on rougher iron surfaces and 23% wear reduction on aluminum.

A Dissipative-Particle-Dynamics Model for Simulating Dynamics of Charged Colloid

open access: yes, 2013
A mesoscopic colloid model is developed in which a spherical colloid is represented by many interacting sites on its surface. The hydrodynamic interactions with thermal fluctuations are taken accounts in full using Dissipative Particle Dynamics, and the ...

Geometry‐Based Scan Curve Analysis: Rapid Method for the Evaluation of Scan Strategies in Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents rapid evaluation methods for scan strategies in powder bed fusion (PBF) of polymers with a NIR laser as an example for its application. It uses line buffer‐based calculations and point density fields to predict the performance of four different scan strategies. The methods show promising results in laser‐based PBF of polymer samples,
