Curiosity, power and narrative : An interview with Perry Zurn

open access: yesInternational Journal of Narrative Therapy and Community Work, 2023
What are some of the dominant and alternative stories of curiosity? How do we wield it and to what effect? What does it mean to attend to the politics of curiosity in our lives and work and to acknowledge it as a collective practice and social force that

Effect of Dietary Factors on Colonisation Resistance and Colonisation

open access: yesMicrobial Ecology in Health and Disease, 2000
In the first part of this review, the role of the different diet components on bacterial populations in the digestive tract is analysed. The second part emphasises the effect on Clostridium difficile. This bacterium produces toxins in digestive tract inducing pseudomembranous colitis. The diet was demonstrated to modify toxin production in vitro and in

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Bio-Communication of Bacteria and its Evolutionary Interrelations to Natural Genome Editing Competences of Viruses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Communicative competences enable bacteria to develop, organise and coordinate rich social life with a great variety of behavioral patterns even in which they organise themselves like multicellular organisms.

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Bacteria and yeasts of nosocomial importance in a radiology department in an academic hospital

open access: yesSouthern African Journal of Infectious Diseases
Background: Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) result in a significant burden on the healthcare sector. Investigations into their epidemiology and possible routes of transmission are important to enable interventions that protect patients and staff.

De la production paysagère à la formation des paysages vécus à Conakry (Guinée)

open access: yesProjets de Paysage, 2019
In Conakry, a capital city shaped ex nihilo, pre-colonial landscapes within the city were erased. At the end of the nineteenth century, the colonial administration designed and created landscapes which, at the time of Independence gave way to new social ...

Smart, Bio‐Inspired Polymers and Bio‐Based Molecules Modified by Zwitterionic Motifs to Design Next‐Generation Materials for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...
