Mechanostimulatory Cues Determine Intestinal Fibroblast Fate and Profibrotic Remodeling in a Physiodynamic Human Gut‐on‐a‐Chip

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A healthy gut barrier shields underlying fibroblasts from luminal shear forces, illustrating that “good fences make good neighbors.” Barrier damage exposes fibroblasts to shear stress, inducing cell death and the emergence of stress‐adapted, profibrotic fibroblasts. Sustained shear exposure promotes the formation of stiff aggregates of mechanoadapative

Study on the effect of tetrabutyryl vitamin C ester on the freshness preservation of pork stored at a low temperature

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X
This study evaluated tetrabutyryl vitamin C ester (TVCE), a fat-soluble antioxidant, for preserving pork freshness (4 °C for 10 days). The total colony count, color difference, shearing force, juice loss rate, cooking loss rate, pH, thiobarbituric acid ...

Comparative evaluation of microbial colony counts of sutures with and without use of periodontal pack after modified Widman flap surgery

open access: yesمجله دانشکده دندانپزشکی اصفهان, 2011
Introduction: In most cases after periodontal surgery, the surgical area is covered with surgical packs. Recent studies suggest that use of periodontal packs after periodontal flap surgery is not necessary and some patients may be irritated by them. The aim of this study was to determine microbiological contamination of a periodontal pack (Coe-pak) by ...

Targeting Peptostreptococcus anaerobius with an Iron‐Based Nanozyme Reverses Ferroptosis Resistance and Enhances Antitumor Immunity in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An iron‐based nanozyme selectively eliminates intratumoral P. anaerobius while catalytically generating ROS to induce ferroptosis, synergistically suppressing colorectal cancer growth and activating anti‐tumor immunity through immunogenic cell death. ABSTRACT The intratumoral microbiota is a critical determinant of therapeutic outcomes in colorectal ...

A microbial assessment of instrumentation and noninstrumentation laser disinfection technique: An in vivo study

open access: yesEndodontology
Aim: The present study aimed to compare the reduction in microbial count of instrumentation versus noninstrumentation laser disinfection technique. Methods: Thirty patients with periapical lesions ranging 3–5 mm in single-rooted teeth were selected for ...

Single‐Cell Transcriptomics Reveals FLS2‐Dependent Hypoxia Signaling and ERF13‐Mediated Transcription During flg22‐Triggered Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study employs sc‐RNA sequencing, genetics, and phenotyping to systematically map the cell‐type‐specific immune responses triggered by flg22. It reveals FLS2‐dependent transcriptional reprogramming in epidermal and mesophyll cells, and uncovers crosstalk between immune and hypoxia signaling pathways.

Oral Streptococcus salivarius Couples Neutrophil IRGM1 Signaling to NET Formation and Colorectal Cancer Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The oral bacterium Streptococcus salivarius promotes colorectal cancer metastasis by inducing neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation. Mechanistically, IRGM1–IQGAP1 interaction activates Wnt5a–PI3K/AKT signaling in neutrophils, driving NET‐mediated tumor progression.

Microbial Profiles of Hands, Foods, Easy Contact Surfaces and Food Contact Surfaces: A Case Study of a University Campus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Human hands usually harbour microbes both as part of body normal flora as well as transient microbes acquired from the environment. One common way by which transient organisms of hand are picked up is by contact with food and surfaces.

Alternating High‐Fat and Polysaccharide Diets Modulates Gut Phage‐Bacterial Interplay

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals how alternating high‐fat and polysaccharide diets reshape the human gut virome and enhance phage‐bacteria interactions. Using large‐scale metagenomic meta‐analysis and a time‐resolved mouse model, the authors show that diets strongly modulate phage abundance, lifestyle, and gene exchange, offering new insights into nutrition‐guided ...
