Structure-Preserving Color Normalization and Sparse Stain Separation for Histological Images

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2016
Staining and scanning of tissue samples for microscopic examination is fraught with undesirable color variations arising from differences in raw materials and manufacturing techniques of stain vendors, staining protocols of labs, and color responses of ...

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Developing a New Method of Transformation for Obtaining XYZ Color Values from RGB Images for Agricultural Applications

open access: yesSensors
The extraction of device-independent color values from affordable and accessible digital images based on a standard color space system is crucially necessary for agricultural applications, where color information for plant monitoring or diagnostics is ...

Gut microbiota diversity is prognostic in metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this exploratory study, we investigated the relationship between the gut microbiota and outcome in patients with metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer, treated in a randomized clinical trial with chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy in combination with immune checkpoint blockade.

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Color superfluidity of neutral ultra-cold fermions in the presence of color-flip and color-orbit fields

open access: yes, 2017
We describe how color superfluidity is modified in the presence of color-flip and color-orbit fields in the context of ultra-cold atoms, and discuss connections between this problem and that of color superconductivity in quantum chromodynamics.

Colorful Image Colorization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Given a grayscale photograph as input, this paper attacks the problem of hallucinating a plausible color version of the photograph. This problem is clearly underconstrained, so previous approaches have either relied on significant user interaction or resulted in desaturated colorizations.

Adaptive Color Attributes for Real-Time Visual Tracking

open access: yes2014 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2014
Visual tracking is a challenging problem in computer vision. Most state-of-the-art visual trackers either rely on luminance information or use simple color representations for image description.
