Structure-Preserving Color Normalization and Sparse Stain Separation for Histological Images

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, 2016
Staining and scanning of tissue samples for microscopic examination is fraught with undesirable color variations arising from differences in raw materials and manufacturing techniques of stain vendors, staining protocols of labs, and color responses of ...

Robust acute myeloid leukemia engraftment in humanized scaffolds using injectable biomaterials and intravenous xenotransplantation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived xenografts (PDXs) can be improved by implantation of a humanized niche. We tested different biomaterials and approaches, and demonstrate that the combination of an injectable biomaterial for scaffold creation plus an intravenous route for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) xenotransplantation provide the most convenient and robust approach to

KMT2A degradation is observed in decitabine‐responsive acute lymphoblastic leukemia cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that decitabine (DEC) not only degrades the DNA methyltransferase DNMT1 but also the leukemic driver lysine methyltransferase KMT2A likely due to structural similarity of the DNA‐binding CXXC domains. DEC influences KMT2A downstream processes and synergizes with menin inhibitor revumenib (REV) to decrease leukemic cell proliferation, and

On functors between categories with colored morphisms [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
In this paper, we consider categories with colored morphisms and functors such that morphisms assigned to morphisms with a common color have a common color. In this paper, we construct a morphism-colored functor such that any morphism-colored functor from a given small morphism-colored groupoid to any discrete morphism-colored category factors through ...

Encoding color information for visual tracking: Algorithms and benchmark

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2015
While color information is known to provide rich discriminative clues for visual inference, most modern visual trackers limit themselves to the grayscale realm.

Polyfunctional CD8+CD226+RUNX2hi effector T cells are diminished in advanced stages of chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CD226+CD8+ T cells express elevated levels of RUNX2, exhibit higher proliferation capacity, cytokines and cytolytic molecules expression, and migratory capacity. In contrast, CD226−CD8+ T cells display an exhausted phenotype associated with the increased expression of co‐inhibitory receptors and impaired effector functions.

Reporting of Objective Color Measurements

open access: yes, 1992
The analysis of color is frequently an important consideration when determining the efficacy of a variety of postharvest treatments. Consumers can easily be influenced by preconceived ideas of how a particular fruit or vegetable should appear, and ...

Cystatin A promotes the antitumor activity of T helper type 1 cells and dendritic cells in murine models of pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a disease with very poor prognosis due to therapeutic limitations. We investigated the antitumor effects of cystatin A (CSTA) in PDAC murine models. We are first to confirm that CSTA enhances T helper type 1‐mediated antitumor effects through promotion of dendritic cells and M1 macrophage activity. CSTA can be

Improving Perceptual Color Difference using Basic Color Terms [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
We suggest a new color distance based on two observations. First, perceptual color differences were designed to be used to compare very similar colors. They do not capture human perception for medium and large color differences well. Thresholding was proposed to solve the problem for large color differences, i.e. two totally different colors are always
