Enzymatic protein hydrolysates of a residue from grape by-products industry for winemaking application: influence of the starting material and hydrolysis time

open access: yesCogent Food & Agriculture
Large quantities of defatted grape seed meal (DGSM) are discarded annually in the grape pomace industry. This residue could be exploited as a new source of non-animal protein to improve the chemical and color stabilization of red wines from warm regions.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Formulation and characterization of BBR loaded niosomes using saponin as a nonionic biosurfactant investigating synergistic effects to enhance antibacterial activity

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study aimed to enhance the antibacterial efficacy of BBR, a natural alkaloid with limited bioavailability and solubility, by encapsulating it in niosomes using saponin as a biosurfactant.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Curcumin‐Encapsulated Poly(lactic‐co‐glycolic acid) Nanoparticles: A Comparison of Drug Release Kinetics from Particles Prepared via Electrospray and Nanoprecipitation

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering
Controlled drug release (CDR) is a significant field of research in medical sciences due to its numerous clinical advantages over traditional methods. Encapsulation of a drug in a polymeric matrix is common technique to achieve CDR.

Superpenetration of a high energy Q barQ bound state through random color fields

open access: yes, 2002
The transmission amplitude of a color dipole through a random external color field is computed in the eikonal approximation in order to study the absorption of high energy quarkonium by nuclear target.
