Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

The Effects of Olive Pomace Ash on The Color Change of the Composite Material and Its Mechanical Properties

open access: yesHittite Journal of Science and Engineering, 2018
The purpose of this study is to apply olive pomace ash Prina ash , which is the remaining pulp after the pressing of olives, to a plastic material. Prina particles transformed into the ash were mixed in Polypropylene PP polymer with a weight ratio ...

Color Molecular-Dynamics for High Density Matter

open access: yes, 1999
We propose a microscopic simulation for quark many-body system based on molecular dynamics. Using color confinement and one-gluon exchange potentials together with the meson exchange potentials between quarks, we construct nucleons and nuclear/quark ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Effect of Temperature of Two-Year Storage of Varietal Honeys on 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural Content, Diastase Number, and CIE Color Coordinates

open access: yesAgriculture
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of two-year storage of varietal honeys (buckwheat, linden, rapeseed, honeydew, and multifloral) at various temperatures (4 °C, −18 °C, −40 °C, and −80 °C) on the content of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF), diastase

Climate Change and Resulting Floods: Using Social Capital to Strengthen Community Resilience in Eastwick, Philadelphia a known floodplain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
• Climate change will produce intense weather events like increased precipitation and flooding • Based on climate projections, Philadelphia will be hotter and wetter, and will experience more frequent and intense weather events (OOS, 2016) •Floods are ...

The Wave Function of 2S Radially Excited Vector Mesons from Data for Diffraction Slope

open access: yes, 2000
In the color dipole gBFKL dynamics we predict a strikingly different Q^2 and energy dependence of the diffraction slope for the elastic production of ground state V(1S) and radially excited V'(2S) light vector mesons.

A Nonvolatile Phase‐Change Metamaterial Color Display

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, 2019
Chalcogenide phase‐change materials, which exhibit a marked difference in their electrical and optical properties when in their amorphous and crystalline phases and can be switched between these phases quickly and repeatedly, are traditionally exploited ...

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.
