The Latent Heat of Single Flavor Color Superconductivity in a Magnetic Field

open access: yes, 2011
We calculate the energy release associated with first-order phase transition between different types of single flavor color superconductivity in a magnetic field.Comment: Updated version accepted by PRD, with minor ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Phi-Meson production at RHIC, strong color fields and intrinsic transverse momenta [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We investigate the effects of strong color fields and of the associated enhanced intrinsic transverse momenta on the phi-meson production in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions at RHIC. The observed consequences include a change of the spectral slopes,

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Color homography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We show the surprising result that colors across a change in viewing condition (changing light color, shading and camera) are related by a homography. Our homography color correction application delivers improved color fidelity compared with the linear ...

Color Change Effect in an Organic–Inorganic Hybrid Material Based on a Porphyrin Diacid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Porphyrinic materials show a range of interesting and useful optical and electrical properties. The less well-known subclass of porphyrin diacids has been used in this work to construct an ionic hybrid organic–inorganic material in combination with a ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Color differences and perceptive properties of prints made with microcapsules

open access: yesJournal of Graphic Engineering and Design, 2015
The aim of the research was to establish whether addition on fragranced microcapsules influences on color values and perceptive properties of prints. For this purpose, three types of printing inks were used on two sets of the paper substrate.

Diffractive deep inelastic scattering from multiple soft gluon exchange in QCD

open access: yes, 2010
Diffractive hard scattering is interpreted as the effect of soft gluon exchanges between the emerging energetic quarks and the nucleon's color field, resulting in an overall color singlet exchange.

Color fusion of magnetic resonance images improves intracranial volume measurement in studies of aging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Comparison of intracranial volume (ICV) measurements in different subpopulations offers insight into age-related atrophic change and pathological loss of neuronal tissue.
