Adaptive Enhancement Display of Chromatic Electrowetting Based on Color Conversion

open access: yesIEEE Access
The charge capture of color inks in chromatic electrowetting electronic paper, the contact angle hysteresis and inconsistent aperture ratio result in a narrower color gamut and reduced contrast of the display screen.

Color stability and degree of conversion of amine-free dual cured resin cement used with two different translucencies of lithium disilicate ceramics

open access: yesBrazilian Dental Science, 2023
Objective: The present study aims to evaluate the color stability and degree of conversion of amine-free dual cured resin cement compared to light cured and amine-containing dual cured resin cements used with two different translucencies of thin ...

Investigation of high-performance perovskite nanocrystals for inkjet-printed color conversion layers with superior color purity

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2021
We synthesized cesium lead-halide perovskite colloidal nanocrystals using the hot injection method for wide-color-gamut low-cost displays. An efficient surface defect passivation technique was applied to further improve the optical performance of the ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Highly Efficient Color Conversion of 3D Photonic Crystal Phosphor Films for Micro‐Light‐Emitting Diode Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research
The color conversion efficiency of phosphor films can be significantly improved by producing them in the shape of photonic crystals (PhCs). When light with photonic band‐edge wavelengths is incident on a PhCs phosphor film, the excitation photons are ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Model Calculation of Enhanced Light Absorption Efficiency in Two-Dimensional Photonic Crystal Phosphor Films

open access: yesPhotonics
When a phosphor film based on a photonic crystal (PhC) is excited at the photonic band-edge wavelength, the absorption of excitation light increases, which can potentially enhance the color-conversion efficiency.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.
