In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Excitation resolved color conversion of CdSe/ZnS core/shell quantum dot solids for hybrid white light emitting diodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Cataloged from PDF version of article. In this paper, for their use as nanoluminophors on color-conversion white light emitting diodes (LEDs), we present spectrally resolved relative quantum efficiency and relative color (photon) conversion efficiency of ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Highly Efficient Color Conversion of 3D Photonic Crystal Phosphor Films for Micro‐Light‐Emitting Diode Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research
The color conversion efficiency of phosphor films can be significantly improved by producing them in the shape of photonic crystals (PhCs). When light with photonic band‐edge wavelengths is incident on a PhCs phosphor film, the excitation photons are ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Model Calculation of Enhanced Light Absorption Efficiency in Two-Dimensional Photonic Crystal Phosphor Films

open access: yesPhotonics
When a phosphor film based on a photonic crystal (PhC) is excited at the photonic band-edge wavelength, the absorption of excitation light increases, which can potentially enhance the color-conversion efficiency.

Efficient Blue to Red Afterglow Tuning in a Binary Nanocomposite Plastic Film

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2018
Colorful spectra are important for the diverse applications of persistent phosphors. A color conversion concept is developed to obtain abundant persistent luminescence color by mining capacities of known persistent phosphors with the most efficient ...

AEGIS: Extinction and Star Formation Tracers from Line Emission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Strong nebular emission lines are a sensitive probe of star formation and extinction in galaxies, and the [O II] line detects star forming populations out to z>1.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Illumination Estimation Based Color to Grayscale Conversion Algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, a new adaptive approach, namelythe illumination estimation approach is introduced into the colorto grayscale conversion technique. In this approach, someassumptions will be made to calculate the weight contribution ofred, green, and blue ...
