Determining color difference thresholds in denture base acrylic resin

open access: yes, 2015
Statement of problem. In restorative prostheses, color is important, but the choice of color difference formula used to quantify color change in acrylic resins is not straightforward. Purpose.

Transcriptome Analysis of Differentially Expressed Genes in Freshwater Pearl Mussel (Sinohyriopsis cumingii) with Four Different Shell Colors

open access: yesAnimals
Pearl culture has long been a major global industry. As a significant global producer, China mainly produces pearls from the freshwater mussel (Sinohyriopsis cumingii). S.

The Color Difference in Orbital Fat [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Ophthalmology, 2001
To identify and quantify carotenoids found in white and yellow orbital fat.Specimens of nasal (white) and preaponeurotic (yellow) orbital fat were obtained from patients during upper eyelid blepharoplasty. Carotenoids and retinoids were extracted and subjected to spectral and high-performance liquid chromatography analyses. The chromophore content of ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Categorical sensitivity to color differences

open access: yesJournal of Vision, 2013
Categorical perception provides a potential link between color perception and the linguistic categories that correspond to the basic color terms. We examined whether the sensory information of the second-stage chromatic mechanisms is further processed so that sensitivity for color differences yields categorical perception. In this case, sensitivity for

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Riemannian Formulation of the CIEDE2000 Color Difference Formula

open access: yes, 2010
International audienceThe CIELAB based CIEDE2000 colour difference formula to measure small to medium colour differences is the latest standard formula of today which incorporates different corrections for the non uniformity of CIELAB space.

Identification of Sanghuang Strains from Different Sources and Comparative Study on Their Liquid Fermentation Performance and in Vivo Antioxidant Activity

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
In this study, 10 Sanghuang strains were collected and identified, and the fermentation performances (mycelia biomass, color difference value and total flavonoid content) were analyzed in order to fully utilize Sanghuang resources and explore the ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.
