A colorimetric CMOS-based platform for rapid total serum cholesterol quantification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Elevated cholesterol levels are associated with a greater risk of developing cardiovascular disease and other illnesses, making it a prime candidate for detection on a disposable biosensor for rapid point of care diagnostics.

A Dual Stimuli Responsive Supramolecular Gel Provides Insulin Hydrolysis Protection and Redox-Controlled Release of Actives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Two supramolecular hydrogelators containing a central disulfide moiety and terminal carboxylic acid groups are studied. On the one hand, the hydrogels are responsive to a reductive environment, which transforms the disulfide unit to the corresponding ...

An Edible H2O2 Biosensor for Gastrointestinal Metabolites and Peroxidase Enzyme Quantification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We present an edible biosensor for gastric fluid analysis that integrates a caffeic acid–horseradish peroxidase redox system into an edible electrolyte‐gated transistor. The device enables rapid, low‐volume detection of H2O2 and, with minimal modification, metabolites and enzyme activity in simulated gastrointestinal conditions.

Engineering of Glioblastoma‐Derived Biomimetic Vesicles and Their Structural and Molecular Features

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biomimetic nanosystems and vesicles have arisen as a novel approach to design vesicular transport systems with diverse therapeutic potential. The ‘biomimetic’ strategy involves the integration of cell membrane components into lipid bilayers, conferring them with biological properties originating from the cell of origin. Until now, most studies

Chamber‐Specific Decellularized Extracellular Matrices Differentially Modulate Cardiomyocyte Subtypes to Drive Engineered Heart Tissue Development and Function

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Chamber‐specific decellularized extracellular matrices (ECMs) were developed, preserving native proteomic profiles of ventricular and atrial myocardium. These innate biochemical cues differentially modulate cardiomyocyte subtypes to drive engineered heart tissue development and function, highlighting the importance of incorporating regional ECM cues in

A pyrene-functionalized triazole-linked hexahomotrioxacalix[3]arene as a fluorescent chemosensor for Zn²⁺ ions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A new pyrenyl appended hexahomotrioxacalix[3]arene L featuring 1,2,3-triazole linkers was synthesized as a fluorescent chemosensor for Zn²⁺ in mixed aqueous media. It exhibited high affinity toward Zn²⁺, and the monomer and excimer emission of the pyrene

One‐Step Microfluidic Manufactured Fucose‐Decorated Sweetosomes Choose the Time and the Road for Their Intracellular Journey to Cancer Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Sweetosomes, a new class of fucose‐decorated liposomes, are developed via a one‐step microfluidic process without surface chemistry. This study elucidates their main caveolae‐mediated entry and distinct endosomal trafficking. These nanostructures demonstrate superior endosomal escape, organelle acidity modulation, and prolonged plasma persistence ...

Influence of Household Washing on the Colorimetric Properties of Intrinsically Natural Organic Cotton Fabrics

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers
This research aimed to examine how household washing influences the colorimetric characteristics of natural colored organic cotton (NaCOC) fabrics. The colorimetric properties of (NaCOC) fabrics were assessed both before and after undergoing washing for ...

Fabrication and characterization of colorimetric polymer based novel nanofibers for sensing and blocking of bacterial

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2020
In this study, novel and innovative nanofibers were fabricated using polydiacetylene(PDA) which have colorimetric properties. The resultant nanofibers were evaluated against the bacteria detection and blocking properties of nanofibers.
